Desmond David Hume
Desmond David Hume was the lone resident of the Swan at the time of the Flight 815 crash. He was discovered by Locke, Kate and Jack a month later after they had blown open Hatch. After his failed attempts to leave the Island, Desmond joined the camp of survivors. Following the destruction of the Swan, Desmond gained a mysterious ability to see flashes of the future, with which he predicted Charlie's imminent death.

I recieved this e-mail and wanted to share it with others... My father has served the US army in Iraq 3 times so far... The fact that one of the top selling coffee stores can't/ won't send some coffee to the soldiers defending their freedom is outragious.. I just want to get the word out since I will no longer be drinking Starbucks...

Err, my opinion is that independent businesses should support or not support anyone they want. Coffee has nothing to do with freedom, thus I will continue to go to Starbucks (Which I hardly do anyways).
If in the position to give to soldiers, I would. They are doing things for the Iraqi people that most of them would never dream of. I supported a volunteer war in Iraq on grounds that we defended and built freedom. Bush decided that it was about WMD's..Though over 500 have been found, he already admitted to lying (Not having reliable info).
Kay, anyways, if you want soldiers to have Starbucks then buy some, and then ship it to them. Not that they would want to drink it now, besides I bet one of their competitors will see this and start sending out coffee right away. Imagine the positive publicity they would get, and all the negative Starbucks would get.

How is not sending coffee to people who are protecting the very right you have to make such a silly statement as "the most decent thing Starbucks has done" possible? If the story is true, then shame on Starbucks. War or not, we are all Americans and should support Americans, even those guys who were ordered to go to another country and fight. I would have thought it a great compliment from the soldiers and donated the coffee. I thought that was the liberals' BIG motto "we support the soldiers, not the war." Apparently, it's not.

number 1- that's NOT my war in any way at all. Even if I was American (which I am not, like many other people on this board in case you haven't noticed) I would proudly say exactly the same thing. In fact, even if I was the last person on earth with this opinion I would say exactly the same thing. It's called NOT BUYING the sentimental patriotism and systematic lies of the present US administration and the mainstream media serving it.
number 2- thinking sending some coffee to soldiers is gonna warm their hearts and make it all right for everyone on the frontline at war or back home in dear 'motherland' is childishly naive, to say the VERY LEAST.
I would be surprised if I was to hear that Starbucks did really say no- , but if a greedy coop. turned down what might be pulled as some huge PR opportunity, I guess that tells a lot about where the whole legitimacy of all this is going in the eyes of the 'public' they serve coffee to.

Personally I do not think it is any where near the WORST, or the BEST thing they have done. It was a business decision, the more independent companies think for themselves and not for any government is better. If we separate church from state, we better separate business from state.
Thats just one Capitalist Swine's opinion. And for the record, I would send the coffee on respect grounds. Disrespecting the Army that won WW2 on two fronts is as stupid as expecting moral decisions from a coffee shop.

What I have no respect for is systematic violence and invasion of some other peoples' land in the name of homeland security or saving the world. The day that's understood I'll get you all a nice cup of coffee. Real coffee not Starbucks either.

exactly what I do, too, which is how I found the 2004 story...I'm willing to bet we are all getting our panties in a bunch for nothing (which is exactly what these urban legend emails want us to do) So unless someone can prove this Starbucks story is true, I'm not believing it.
