Mainstream media serving the war!?!? LOL You OBVIOUSLY do not live in the U.S. or you would know the "mainstream media" supporting the war is a joke! I have lived in Europe before and I've forgotten what France's unfounded opinion is of the U.S. Thanks for reminding me. I should have remembered all of France's actions in the U.N. I love when people who believe they are intellectually superior to others make as one of their argument points "that's so childish." LOL It's a good one. You couldn't figure out that I was writing to fellow Americans; it's an in-house thing about American Soldiers?(of course I know that this is an international web site -but I must only talk about WORLD issues?) Your opinions, although valuable for discussion purposes only, can't be translated into action because you are from France; just like if there were something going on with your country (a boycott or riot or something) and you mentioned it to another French person on this site, that's fine, but anything I do here doesn't affect France's actions- I vote in America; you vote in France. The American person who started this thread asked for Americans help. I don't think Americans commenting on it is SO inreasonable, whether it's true or not. But I don't want to fight, I came here to make friends, so I'm dropping it....

I hope we're not going to spend the next 6 weeks getting into political "discussions", just because we don't have a new ep of Lost to watch.

As far as the whole Mid-East situation, it is a world problem and as an American, where freedom of expression is part of our culture, I feel that everyone in the world has a right to voice an opinion on the situation. As I believe Voltaire once said; I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend until the death your right to say it.

Yeah, I agree with peg4x4- this *is* getting tedious- but for different reasons.

First off, you gotta pay attention really, especially when you're trying to make an argumentative point.
The user tags on the left side of every single message posted on the board already tells where the user is joining from (assuming the user provides that info). In case you miss that (which you did your first time and wrote US soldiers are protecting *my* rights), read my second message you claim to be responding, where I already wrote myself that I do not live in US. So, it was painfully obvious long before you 'deduced' that in your last message above. I live in Canada but I am not Canadian, I am not French in any way either- just my nickname is.

Which brings me to my second point- trying to box a counter- position with nationality tags only empties the thoughtful content of your own argument, which I am afraid was already scarce in your case. No, using the ideological tags of liberal, conservative etc doesn't help much either. Hey, I gotta suggestion: why not sticking to the CONTENT of what you claim to respond to?

You gotta educate yourself on what mass communication in global age amounts to and where US news networks stand in this global phenomenon. If you do that, you'll see the figures and stats with your own eyes that the mainstream US media organizations I am referring to, broadcast internationally MORE SO than nationally. Give yourself some time on the Net and you'll find to your surprise that many of those channels are watchable from almost anywhere around the world. (I mean seriously, you think people can watch LOST anwhere around the world but not the mainstream US media??) Hold your breath, the same is true for newspapers and radio shows. It's called globalization. I don't have to be farming in Kentucky to be subjected to lies that the mainstream pro-war US media is feeding people with.

Well if that's too much reading for you to do, the least you can do is to check how far the transitory waves travel in air- you'll see my cable perfectly allows me to watch the US media, mainstream or not. If I weren't to have TV, US newspapers, pro-war or not, mainstream or not, are easy to find anywhere across the globe, including where I live. If you can't buy those, there's Internet. Yeah, it's called 2006. Hard not to educate yourself but some manage it still.

Right, so I was watching CNN a week or so ago, and I watched them air a video of U.S. Soldiers being sniped down on camera. After that the event was nearly applauded, now that does not seem pro-war to me.

Watch our MSNBC, where you will see them spend most of the day complaining about the Administration and war.

ABC's George Stefanopolis spends his entire show digging out conspiracies and problems with the war.

Grant it if you watch Fox News they are bias, but I give them the same scrutiny as all the rest.

There are plenty of Pro-War internet sites like you said, but heh I think there are more Anti.

Yes Jedi-Toad, I agree.
The Anti-War side is getting a stronger hand- it is a process relatively new though when compared to the life-span of this war by and large. Nevertheless some content analysis and looking into the filtering processes of what makes it to the news or not, would show there's still a long way to go for the multi-million news network orgs to officially change their position on the subject and take a clear, counter- stance against the administration.

Right well, your right they have a very long way to go. Though I think instead of taking sides maybe they could be journalists and not pundits. Or at least not call themselves a News Channel, and instead call themselves a Talk/Opinion Network. That goes for each side of the spectrum, but I agree they have a long way to go.
