a poem about Sawyer contemplating the past...
The past, why won't it let us be?
Why does it keep hunting us?
That night,
why can't i let it go?
What happened,
hiding, scared.
I've tried,
but none of it mattered.
I look in the miiror
only to find unknown cold eyes staring back.
I don't even recognize myself.
Now, a new place,
a new start.
It's of no use.
no matter the effort,
my heart is a stone.
Somehow it will never warm
ever change.
She came along
maybe she could see?
It had been so long
but not even her
could melt the exterior.
I drove her away,
just like so many others.
Again I was left alone
the way it had always been,
the way i had always wanted it.
But then why do I feel so empty?
When will the voyed be filled?
I'm staring out over the ocean,
alone with my thoughts, as always
