Ana-Lucia Cortez
Ana-Lucia Cortez was an ex-police officer who sat in the tail section of Flight 815 when it crashed. She took a leadership role in the group and led her party across the Island, reuniting them with the rest of the passengers. Ana was known to be very emotionally cold and her background in policing helped her with her leadership role. Ana-Lucia survived on the Island for 65 days before being shot and killed by Michael.

Out of the Blue
I'll be brave and post the first fanfiction here! This story has some slight AU(alternative universe). I will warn you, there is some language. Thanks guys!
Flames. Smoke. Kim was alone in a world of blood.
She opened her eyes. There was a man leaning over her.
“Don't move. You'll be OK.” He had a kind voice. She realized for the first time a splitting pain in her side. She tried to look at it.
“No, no, no, don't move. Sun, go to the caves. Get me another towel, and some more water.”
“Where am I?” Kim looked around and tried to get her bearings.
“I don't really know, and I've been here for over a month. I was on a plane going from Sydney to LA. The plane crashed and we've been here ever since. But you're in a tent on a beach, and I'm sewing up the nasty cut on your side.” The entire time he was talking he didn't stop working.
“We?” Kim looked puzzled.
“Myself and about forty-five other survivors. I was hoping you could tell me who you are and where you came from, though. You washed up on the shore about two hours ago. Kim struggled to remember the events of the past couple of hours. She had been on a plane. Then,
“Oh my God! The plane it, it crashed.” She tried to sit up. The man pushed her back down.
“Well that answers one of my questions, but not the other one. Who are you?” Someone entered the tent. A familiar voice spoke up.
“I think I can answer that question for you, Jack.” Kim tried to sit up again.
“Katie?”
“Katie? Well thats one I've never heard before. Do you guys know each other?” Kim looked up into her eyes. Yep, it was her.
“I guess you could say that.” Kim answered coldly. She wasn't sure how it was safe to react.
“Kim! I'm surprised at you. I expected a better reaction from my sister.” The man Jack looked up from his work. “What, you can't see the resemblance?” Jack had apparently finished what he was doing.
“Alright. You're finished. But you still haven't told me you're name.” Kate spoke up for her.
“Kim Ryan. Her name is Kim Ryan.” She looked at Kim as she said this, knowing she wouldn't protest to the last name. Technically it was her legal last name, even if she never used it. Jack stared at her suspiciously.
“You should be better in a couple of days. Until then you need to take it easy. It could come open again and I don't have any strong pain killers.” Kim started to stand up. Kate and Jack both rushed to help her. She laughed.
“I'm fine,” she stated, even though she winced as she said it. Jack made a move to leave.
“I'll go get you something to eat. And then you should rest. I'm sure you're exhausted.” He left the tent. The girls rushed into each others arms.
“Ryan? I can't believe you're using his name now.” Kate laughed.
“Oh come on. Is that all I'm going to get?”
“I missed you to, Annie.” Kim grinned at her. “Or are you going by Meg now?”
“Will you always give me a hard time, Liz?” She put emphasis on the last word. They could talk like this for hours, but both knew it was useless.
“You know, today is my birthday. I can't think of a better present. I get my big sister back.” Kim smiled at her sister.
“Wow! Now how old are you? Twenty-three?” Kim tried to punch her.
“No! Are you kidding me? I'm eighteen. Kieren's twenty-three.” There was a lull between them. Kim wished she hadn't brought up the subject of their brother.
“How is he? I mean, I heard he was following you.” Kate tried to look like she didn't really care, even though she did. Kim saw right through it.
“Bastard called the cops on me. That's why I was on the plane. He was there to. I don't think he made it.” Kate wasn't the least bit sorry to her that her brother was dead.
“Son of a ***** finally got what he deserved.” Kate was going to continue but Jack walked in with a handful of fruit and a water bottle.
“You can sleep here for the night. We'll find another place for you in the morning. Somebody should stay with you just in case.”
“I'll do it,” Kate volunteered, “I don't think I would sleep anyway.” Kim glanced gratefully at her. She didn't want to spend the night with a guy who didn't trust her. “Besides,” she looked at Kim, “I have a little explaining to do.” Kim could tell he still didn't trust her.
“Don't worry. I'm nothing like Kate.” She saw Kate hide a small smile. They both knew she had lied, but who wanted Jack to know that? He sighed and looked resigned to the fact that he wasn't going to find out more about her tonight. He glanced one more time at her and left. Kate went to the flap of the tent and looked out to make sure he wasn't listening. “Have you really been her over a month?” Kate walked back over to her and sat down.
“Yeah.” Kim looked slyly at Kate.
“That Jack guy, he's hot. You and him, you know.” Kate stared at her.
“He's a doctor, Kim. You know I have problems with doctors.” Kate's eyes clouded over, “I wouldn't risk getting involved with a doctor.”
“Sorry, I shouldn't have.” Kim's expression was genuine for the first time that night.
“Don't be. But there is this guy, his name's Sawyer,” Kim looked up suddenly, “he's the only person on this island who understands me.”
“Sawyer? What is he, some sort of con artist?” Kate laughed.
“How did you know?”
“I knew a Sawyer. He was in a plane crash, so I thought, maybe, you know. ” She trailed off into silence.
“Oh,” her face fell. “You heard Jack, you need to get rest. I'll see you in the morning.” Kate stood up and walked out of the tent.
“Katie?”
The first thing Kim saw when she woke up in the morning was a tarp. It took her a minute to readjust to her surroundings. As the events of the previous night replayed in her mind a small smile flickered across her face. She had found Kate. Kim stood up slowly. She pushed aside the flap of the tent and walked slowly down the beach toward the ocean. She just stood there, staring out at the ocean.
“You're so much like each other, you know,” a British man with a baby was walking towards her, “She stands here for hours, just staring at the ocean.”
“Who?”
“Kate. Anyone can tell you're related. Freckles, brown wavy hair, the way you brush the hair out of you're eyes, the way you squint in the sun. It's just like her.” Kim continued to stare at him. “My name's Charlie.” Kim seemed slightly taken back.
“Charlie? Charlie Pace?” He smiled slightly.
“Yeah. Why?” Kim laughed.
“Why? Charlie Pace. You play bass guitar in Driveshaft.” Charlie's grin spread from ear to ear.
“You like Driveshaft?”
“I guess. Kate listened to you guys all the time. She was obsessed. She had every song memorized. Didn't she tell you?” Charlie was puzzled. Kate had never shown any sign of being a Driveshaft fan.
“She really likes us that much? I mean, she never said anything.”
“Kate's a good actress. You should hear her do a British accent, “ Kim smiled, “Priceless.” She turned away from him and stared back out at the ocean. The baby in his arms started crying. She turned back to face him. “Here, let me help you.”
“I don't know if Claire would like it.” Kim was slightly taken back.
“Claire?”
“His mum. I'm not sure if she would be OK with it.” Kim was disappointed. “Sorry. Its just, I'm not his dad, so...” he trailed off.
“No. Its OK. I get it. I washed up on shore last night. Nobody trusts me.” She turned back around so Charlie wouldn't see how hurt she was. A young lady walked up and took the baby from Charlie. He looked back over at Kim. She was staring at something in the water. She turned around quickly. “There's someone out there.” Charlie came and stood next to her.
“Bloody hell, you're right.” Kim turned to him.
“You a good swimmer?” she asked.
“Well, I guess,” really he was a horrible swimmer, but she didn't need to find that out.
“Help me then.” She started off into the surf. Charlie glanced lovingly at Claire and headed into the water. It was slow going, but they finally made it out to the person. Kim gasped.
“What?” Charlie looked at her for an explanation, and little to his surprise he didn't receive one. The man was clinging on to a suitcase. They each grabbed one of his arms and swam towards the beach. A small group had gathered to watch them. As they got near the shore an Arab man waded into the water. He helped them pull him up on the sand away from the water. People around them started whispering things like, “Sawyer,” and, “Where are the others?” Kim held her head close to his body to see if he was breathing.
“Oh God.” Kim looked around, “Does anyone know CPR?” The Asian woman whom she remembered from the night before as Sun stepped forward.
“I do, but I'm too small. Someone needs to go to the caves and get Jack.”
“Caves?” Kim asked. The Arab man turned towards the jungle and broke into a run. Sun sat down on next to the man. Kim stared at his face.
“He's been shot.” Kim was startled out of her trip down memory lane by the sudden exclamation.
“Is it bad?” She was worried about him.
“I don't think so. It looks like it just grazed the skin.” They sat there for what felt like hours. Then Jack and the other man ran up. Jack pushed her out of the way.
“Sawyer. Sawyer, wake up.”
“He's not breathing.” He glared at Kim.
“I'm a doctor. Let me do this.” Kim stood up and left. She didn't want to be there when he woke up. She could just see the explosion. Suddenly she heard someone coughing and gasping for breath. Kim ran up the beach and into the tent she and Kate had stayed in last night. She pulled aside the flap. Kate was still asleep. “Kate. Kate, wake up.” Kim shook her gently.
“What?” Kim looked at her mysteriously.
“You'll never guess who just showed up.” Kate stood up and ran out of the tent and down the beach. Kim stared at her jog away. She knew questions would arise as to how she knew Sawyer, and she didn't know what sort of lie she would tell.

Thanks LOST!
Chapter Two:
MEXICO
Kim continued to stare at the group down the beach. She went into the tent and sat down. She was there for hours, staring at the sand that made up the floor of the tent.
“Kim Ryan, my ass.” She scrambled to her feet.
“I knew you'd screw me eventually, I just didn't think it would be my big sister. Funny how life works out ain't it?” She imitated a Southern accent. He tried not to laugh at her. She pulled him into a hug. “I missed you.” He pulled away from her.
“Girlie, I don't know if I can say the same about you but,” He grinned at her slyly, “Kate on the other hand...” She hit him, hard. He backed out of the tent, still smiling playfully.
“I wanted to talk to you.”
“Oh yeah, how come?”
“About Mexico. You never showed.” He stared at her not knowing what to say.
“Something came up. I had to go to Australia. Unfinished business.” Kim immediately knew she had struck a wrong cord.
“Sorry. It was a huge deal, and you never back out.”
“Never say never, Sweetheart.” He had resumed the sullen attitude he used around the other people on the island. He turned to leave.
“Did you find him?” she asked softly. He stopped.
“No,” he said flatly.
“Didn't think so.” He whipped around to stare at her.
“I will. And when I do, you'll be the first person to know.” She looked at him sadly. His whole life was about finding the man who had destroyed his life. If only he knew what Kate had... She stopped herself before Sawyer had a chance to read her thoughts. She sighed heavily.
“You're probably tired. You should get some rest.”
“You're right,” he turned to leave, but seemed to change his mind. “Thank you.” He said simply.
“For what?” She was shocked. Hearing “Thank you” come out of his mouth was like hearing a cat bark, strange, weird, and totally unheard of.
“For pulling me out. You thought I was a complete stranger, but you went out there anyway. You didn't have to.” She shot him a small smile.
“You would have done the same.” They shared a short look of understanding. He walked over to one of the campfires. She saw him reach for his pocket and pull out the letter she had seen so many times. If only he knew. She had only just gotten here and now she wanted to tell a secret which could destroy the way these people lived. They had been there over a month and life was settling into place for them. But the guilt she felt for keeping him in pain was almost to much. The secret she kept could destroy the lives of the people she loved the most. The secret she kept. And that was what she planned on doing.
Sawyer woke up early the next morning, much to his disappointment. He looked over at the brown hair next to him. He sat up slowly so as not to wake her. He shuddered at the pain in his shoulder. He walked slowly out of the tent onto the beach. Kim was standing down by the water, sinking, if he remembered correctly. Last night he hadn't really had time to look at her. She was still growing. A small smile played across his face. Apart from that she was very much the same. She had the same brown hair. Her rosy cheeks were redder than ever, probably from a sunburn. The freckles were the same, although maybe there were more of them now. Her eyes were still the same. He had always admired her eyes. They were blue, but when she wore just the right color they got a hint of green. She was standing exactly the way she had been when he first saw her two years ago. He walked quietly down the sand to her.
“Sinking?” He inquired. She didn't look at all surprised he was there.
“You remembered,” she said when he had begun to think she hadn't heard.
“What were you thinking about?”
“Getting the hell out of here. Although I guess its never going to happen,” she continued to stare at the ocean. Sawyer had seen that look in her eyes before, and it scared him. He put his arm around her.
“Now why would you think that?” She looked at him like he was stupid.
“Kate told me everything. About Locke dieing in that hatch thing. About the French transmission. About the damn polar bear.” He pulled her closer to himself. Over the past two years she had become like a little sister to him. He thought growing up that a sister would be annoying, but not this one. Kim was adventurous and timid, cocky and polite, backstabbing and loyal. In many ways she was a lot like himself. Life with Kim around was never boring.
“At least you're not alone,” he said. Kate stared at them from her position outside of Sawyer's tent. She glanced down at her feet.
“Sinking.”

Thanks a lot guys!
Chapter 3:
War Wounds
Later that morning Kim was sitting on the beach looking through all the unclaimed suitcases for clothes. A tall, blond woman came and sat down next to her.
“You're Kim, right?” Kim didn't look up, “I'm Shannon.”
“Nice to meet you Shannon,” she said slightly because of habit. She finally looked up from sorting through clothes to look at the girl next to her. The blond girl was very obviously waiting for a real response. Kim could immediately tell she was rich. She was pretty, but she seemed sad, like she was all alone in the world. Kim suddenly felt sorry for her. “You know, you're one of the first people to come to me. I guess I'm scary or something.” Shannon laughed a little. Kim was anything but scary.
“No. Everybody is just a little on edge, after what happened to Locke. You do know about Locke, don't you?”
“Yeah. Kate told me everything. I'm sorry about your brother.” Shannon's bottom lip quivered slightly.
“Yeah. Me too.” Kim considered for a split second telling Shannon she knew her brother, but thought better of it at the last minute.
“So, have you found anything that fits?” she inquired.
“Not yet. Most of these clothes would fit super models and a fat old lady.” Shannon laughed again.
“You're the only person on this island who can make me laugh.”
“Glad I could help. They say laughing makes you live longer, so this is my good deed. I just saved your life.” The blond started laughing again. “Hey! I did it again.” By this time she was bent over from laughing so hard. The Arab man Kim remembered from yesterday ran over and knelt by Shannon.
“Shannon, are you alright?” She looked up quickly. She was still laughing.
“Yeah, I'm fine,” she managed to get out between laughs. He glared at Kim. Shannon came quickly to her defense.
“We were just laughing, Sayid.” He still looked at Kim accusingly.
“I'm sorry. I jumped to conclusions.”
“Damn right you're sorry.” Kim said to herself. “Don't worry about it,” she smiled softly at him, “I can't say that I don't get that kind of stuff a lot.” It was Shannon's turn to feel sorry for her.
“Kim, this is Sayid. I'm gonna assume Kate told you about him to.” Kim grinned at her.
“She told me everything.” Kim winked at Shannon. The girl blushed and looked down at the ground. Sayid stood up.
“Have you been to the caves yet?” he asked slowly.
“Uh, no. Not yet anyway. I was looking for clothes that fit me. These aren't exactly intact anymore.” That was the truth. They were in rags.
“There are more suitcases up at the caves,” Shannon volunteered, “You may be able to find something there.”
“Alright. So, where are these caves?”
“I'll show you. I need to bring back some more water anyway.” The girls looked at him questioningly.
“We'll all come,” Shannon suggested. “Then we can get to know each other.” Sayid sighed slightly. They all stood up and headed towards the jungle.
“I see you found some clothes.” Jack was helping Kim change her bandage later that day.
“Yeah. For a while there I thought I would be in rags forever.” She glanced down at her wound and grimaced. “That's really gross.” Jack smiled at her.
“I've seen worse.”
“Me too. But that was other people. This time it's me.”
“When have you seen worse?” A shadow passed over her face. Damn you, Kim. She wished Kate was there to cover for her.
“Please don't,” she pleaded with him.
“I guess I'm never gonna find out what she did.” He seemed resigned to the fact that what he had said was true.
“Probably not. Unless we get out of here. Then she'll probably be arrested.” It was the first time he realized how bad Kate's situation was.
“If she does go to jail, how long will she be there?” Kim stared at the ground.
“Life without parole. If she gets lucky and they don't give her the death penalty.”
“That bad, huh?”
“Yeah. That bad,” she stated flatly. Jack quickly tried to change the subject.
“This wound's healing quickly. You're lucky. It could have been worse.”
“I've always been a quick healer. Besides, its just another war wound.” She got up to leave.
“I meant to ask you, where did you get that gunshot wound?” Kim turned around slowly.
“Have you always been a nosy son of a *****?” she asked, the anger brewing behind her eyes.
“I was just concerned. It looks like it happened recently.” He was right. She had gotten that the day Kieren had arrested her.
“My brother. He shot me three weeks ago.”
“So you guys have this huge family war going on?” he asked sarcastically.
“You could call it that,” she turned to leave again but turned back so she could see his face, “Kate fired the first shot.”
“What? Kate's one of the best people I know.” Kim realized Jack would defend Kate no matter what she did.
“Me too.” Jack took a step forward.
“Without Kate we would all be dead.” He grabbed her arm so she wouldn't be able to leave.
“Every hero has a secret, Jack.” She stared directly into his eyes, hoping he would take the hint. He let go of her arm. “Like those tattoos.” She shoved her hands into her pockets and smiled at him. “I wonder what the secret behind those is.” He looked down at the ground and smiled. If there was one thing she was good for it was breaking up a fight.
“Its getting late. If you want to make it back to the beach before dark you should get going.”
“Yeah.” She turned to leave. “Jack, don't tell Kate that I told you anything. She's always wringing me out for letting things slip.”
“No problem.” Kim smiled at him. She went over to another corner of the caves and picked up the suitcase she'd gotten her clothes from. She had nearly made it all the way to the beach when she heard them. Whispers. All around her.
She put her hand behind her back and brought out the gun. She held it out in front of her body.
“Put it away, Kim.” She whipped around, hoping to see the speaker. The voices drew in around her.
“Kim.” She turned around, pointing the gun at the speaker. She quickly hid the gun behind her body.
“Sayid.” The scared look quickly disappeared from her face, but it did not escape his notice.
“Where did you get the gun?”
“I found it. In a suitcase. And yeah, I'm fine.” He quickly forgot about the gun.
“Are you sure? You looked scared.” He surprisingly seemed really concerned.
“Yeah. I just thought I heard something. Its nothing.” Even though lying was a second nature to her, she still felt like he could see right through it.
