My mum just recently finished season 1 and is bugging me about a flashback that involves Locke using military slang on the phone, Im sure its just before his boss starts putting him down.

I dont think its anything major, but she seems to think he is high in the ranks in the army or something?

Please help so i can shut her up!!

My guess is that he was simply roleplaying, he was a quite pitiful guy back then. That is probaly one of the two things he looked forward in life next to talking on the phone with paid talkers.

Im not sure that I am right, thats just my opinion. Maybe he was in the military. I just dont think so.

He was not in the military, His boss, Randy, sarcastically refers to him
as colonel, because he is listening to his phone conversations.
But, if I remember correctly Randy said he had looked in Locke's file
and he had never served.

I think the whole military thing was just a fantasy for Locke. And he was really good at Risk, so he liked to use the lingo.

Note to self: never challenge Locke to a game of Risk.

does any one know how he lost the use of his legs ? I don't recall it from the flashbacks about his past . The last I remembered was when he was outside his father's home and his girlfriend busted him and left him ..... also , I think he worked at a box factory (office ) and didn't Hurley own one after his lottery winning ? One that blew up or something ? I need to watch the first season over i guess.....

We haven't been told how he lost the use of his legs. The last flashback still
had him with the use of his legs. The general consensus is that the box
company where Locke works is the one owned by Hurley, although, that has
never been stated on the show.
