Default Locke needs Mavis!

Locke needs Mavis Beacon! What is that the 3rd time he has screwed up typing in the numbers? He worked as an regional account manager, that means typing numbers all day.

"481616 no no, 4815162342"......Locke silently screaming "I need Mavis Beacon"

I have no idea who Mavis Beacon is, but I have noticed Locke does have trouble typing the numbers.
Although I have to say lots of the posts here and on other sites are hard to understand because of multiple typos. I never know if the people just can't type well or if they just can't spell. Sometimes it takes me several minutes to figure out a sentence because of misspellings.
My point being, I was going to really make fun of Locke's typing but
a realized I have to retype things sometimes and I don't have a countdown
alarm screaming in my ear or the fate of the world in my hands.
Besides, it certainly makes for some edge of the seat nailbiting.

Mavis Beacon was a gargantuan program in the 90's in wich it taught you how to type, through games and exercises. It was the real mega-program of the 90's.

Yeah we used that in computer class at school. It wasn't that bad, I played the games all the time.

I was an English major (before switching to Education) and an English teacher, and trying to read some of the posts on here can really give me a headache! It's my pet peeve... I just want to jump into the computer and start editing everything! You know I really love you all, but I'm starting to develop a twitch!

Well that tells you how old I am. I called Mavis Beacon a person. I learned to type on a manuel typewriter
with the teacher saying "strike, strike, strike, curve those fingers more,
strike, strike, your nails are too long, strike, strike, reach don't hit,
strike, strike strike!!!" Anyone else remember what I'm talking about?

Just out of curiosity, was Mavis Beacon the name of the person who wrote
the program or was it an acronym of some kind?

I'm a journalist by trade - I get that twitch to sit there and red ink everything, too. Appreciation of English is slipping away...

As far as screwing up when typing the numbers...Desmond seemed to do it just fine. What that computer needs is a numberpad off to the right like most keyboards these days

You're not the only one Toad. And this isn't the only place. Other boards, blogs and emails have the potential to drive me crazy. And when I'm chatting in World of Warcraft...I just give up!
