If,as we think,Walt does have "powers",don't you think the Others would have their hands full with a seriously pissed off preeteen ,who can make things "happen".At the least,he knows how to start a fire!

I agree with Toad that Walt probably doesn't understand what he is capable of, and they are dangling Mike in front of him to keep him scared enough, and willing enough to cooperate. Plus, I think that he is not just off in the woods somewhere...since I believe he is probably the reason behind most of this, he is probably VERY secure (possibly underwater?). Plus, does anyone think that his apperances to Shannon and Locke could have something to do with his powers?

Yes, of course. One does not appear to someone else by not doing anything at all, Walt was using his collective conscious to put a vision in to her and Sayids mind.

When someone is stressed out or not sleeping your mind will be more open to manipulation.
