So I was thinking more about the possibility of Locke's dad being the real Sawyer and I seemed to remember something from the episode Dues Ex Machina. When Locke walks in on his dad when he's having dialysis, doesn't Locke's dad say something along the lines of "You weren't exactly supposed to see that," which has now been used by Sawyer (James Ford) multiple times, almost as a signature saying. Also, the whole layout of Dues Ex Machina follows the forumla of a perfect long con.

also, when sawyer wakes up in the hospital and his dad is gone, his mom says that the dad wanted it to be sawyers idea. doesnt that follow the long con, that its supposed to be the person thats being cond idea first?

Wouldn't it just be funny if it was true and John and James were connected like that? I'd have to laugh quite a bit at the irony... they have a deep 'mutual disagreement' about them. Well... James just doesn't like John... Dunno what exactly John thinks about the other.

Why did Locke ask "James" why he picked the name Sawyer? It's not a common name. Locke must know his father's name. Right?

There very well may be a connection between the real Sawyer and Locke or Locke's Dad, but maybe Locke's Dad himself is not the real Sawyer. His last name was Cooper, but I did not catch his first name. Has Locke's father's first name been revealed, anyone?

I think James addresses his letter to a "Mr. Sawyer." Maybe Locke's father was a mentor to James, and they joined together to hunt for the "Mr. Sawyer" who conned both of them.
