Dr. Jack Shephard

Dr. Jack Shephard is often seen as the main character of the series. He is a spinal surgeon and the de facto leader of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jack has control issues and trouble dealing with situations that he cannot fix. However, this attitude of solving problems through reason has given him the ability to function well in crisis. Sometimes, if he feels guilt or pain over a situation he can't fix himself, he will do anything he can to fix it, even borderlining on obsessive. Jack is, most of the time, in control of his life, emotions and situation he is in and is able to keep a cool head in tense situations. Jack is also the half brother of Claire Littleton, although neither of them is aware of this. Jack has formed very strong bonds with Kate and Juliet while he has been on the Island.

Cool A tigers stripes
The first season was full of people changing what they do because of their flashbacks. Remember when Sawyer didn't shoot the boar? He remembered what happened when he shot Frank Duckett.

The second season, this last episode in particular, seemed to be about how none of them can change. Sawyer has to continue being hated and he says that a "tiger does not change it's stripes."

Why this dramatic shift? Could this be the sickness ????

Unhappy Sawyer's stripes
I was thinking to myself, "Wow, Sawyer isn't as bad as I thought he was. He is really turning around. He's been through a lot and maybe has a little empathy for the rest of the lostaways now. Oh, gee, he's just a big sweetheart!"

And then

BAM!

He pulls this!!! I was NOT expecting anything like that to happen.

Sawyer's a bad boy through and through, I guess. And now Charlie is a little bad boy helper!

I'm just not understanding what Sawyer can get out of it. There is no money on the island. Now everyone knows what he did so there is no one left to con, if the Others attack, he can't fight them alone.
What is he gaining??

Well, I hate him, so he's successful there. I think Jack and Locke will get him back though...Sawyer should'nt have taunted Sayid with that torture comment...
