Kate Austen

Kate Austen is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Kate is a fugitive, and was being pursued by Marshal Mars prior to the flight, for blowing up her father. Kate had been captured in Australia and was being escorted back to the United States before the crash. Kate has always seemed to run away from her past. Even on the Island, Kate exhibits a kind of evasive behavior to escape from her problems. Kate, when on the run, always had good intentions and never did any outright harm or killings to anybody, she believed she was doing things for the greater benefit of others. This view is prominently connected with her actions of her father's murder - she believed she was relieving her mother from his abusive presence. Kate is strong-willed, useful and clever, but dislikes being alone and is usually level-headed.

She has escaped from the captivity of the Others with Sawyer, and has formed an ambiguous romantic relationship with him, despite still being unsure about her feelings for Jack.

Default When Richard stopped being chosen

Ben was special because he took over Jacob's vision after Richard lost it. Richard was special after the Haitian lost it. Locke was special when ben lost. Will Hurley become the special one if Locke screws Jacob over?

What do you mean Richard lost his vision? By "vision" do you mean his hunch that John Locke was meant to be a leader on the island? If so, his vision was accurate all along, John just wasn't ready until he was much older.

If Richard really could time travel it would be easy for him to learn whether or not John really was the right person. If not, there would be no reason to get upset when John failed the test because he could just go back in time as many times as he needed to find the right kid. The fact that he was upset, told me that John was the right person, but that Richard and the Others would have to wait for him to grow up more. Just my thinking. But, then again, what the heck do I know? I'm as lost as everyone else.

Lastly, is Abaddon the guy you call "The Haitian"? Do we know that Abbadon is actually Haitain? Was that said somewhere or is it just a guess? I'm pretty confused about that.

I too am confused as to who the Hatian is. I think that Richard has a different role in the cycle, one unlike that of John or Ben. Ben was just a filler until John was ready. John's finally ready now so the island no longer needs Ben. I go back to the Dali Lama Panchen Lama story. I think Richard is the Panchen and saw both Ben and John as possible reincarnates of their Dali

Richard is Locke's biological father in my understanding.

Emily was dating a man twice her age, (Richard would fit). Richard was at the hospital and Emily's mother was reluctant to say he WAS NOT the father. Locke was put up for adoption.

Richard had to find John. Richard was convinced that John was his 'the one.'.. (so Matrixy). We're led to believe the man that Sawyer killed was John's father ... maybe he swindled John just like he swindled everyone else. HE NEVER said he was JOHN'S father!.. He only said, "You needed a father and I needed a kidney".. never acknowledge completely that he was the father of John... (unless I missed something). .. and I'm sure I may have.

John packed over 600 knives?.. (remember the knife was the error in Richards test).. so Locke has EVERY knife he can find-or trying to prove WHO he is to ..??????? the man who rejected him/.. Richard.

I believe that Richard is John's bio-dad. And I'm still not convinced that Jack/Claire's dad is Jacob.. (even though we're suppose to believe that based on tonight's episode).

Where does that lead? I dunno.

The "600 knives" thing was just an offhand sarcastic comment by Charley.

Tonight's episode (and earlier episodes) explain that Christian is Claire and Jack's father, not Jacob. Is that what you meant to write?

I think you misread perhaps.. I was talking about John's father.. NOT Jack's.?? Or the fact that Christian was in the cabin with Claire.. (as meaning, he was Jacob.)

I just do not believe that Christian is Jacob.

I believe that John's dad is closer to being Jacob-IE.. Richard.

Richard was way off base.

Christian even says that he only speaks on Jacob's behalf. It wouldn't have been scripted that way if he was Jacob... or even if it turns out that he is, the writers don't want us to believe that at this point.

I mean, when I answer the phone and someone asks for Kate, I say "this is", not "I can speak on her behalf".

Who said Richard was chosen in the first place? Maybe he is just a disciple that walks the Earth to do Jacob's bidding. He can openly communicate with Jacob and acts on his behalf.

I think he said he could speak on his behalf to avoid explaining that Jacob was not a real person, neither was the Christian that was in the cabin. he was obviously concerned with immediate action and didn't want to explain the true nature of Jacob.

To reiterate my point, Jacob is not a real person, unless he just sits in that dark, dank cabin all day everyday hoping someone comes by to visit.
