Dr. Juliet Burke
Dr. Juliet Burke (née Carlson) is a member of the Others. She seems unhappy with her allegiance (particularly, it seems, with Ben's position of authority), and lives at the Barracks. Juliet is a calm, intelligent woman with a background in medicine, but unhappy with her private life and will do anything to get off the Island. However, it seems Juliet has betrayed her people and joined the survivors in wanting off the island.

TEVA SAID:
Did we ever find out if Locke had ever served as a Colonel? In, I think, Walkabout when he flashes back to working at the box company as the regional supervisor, he is on the phone with someone who asks if the line is secure and they talk about something cryptic before being interupted by his boss-man. The man on the other line refers to him as Colonel, and then later when they are playing risk in the employee lounge his boss points out that in his resume or history or whatever there is no mention of time served in the army. Did I miss somthing?
No, I don't think Locke was ever a colonel. He was playing a game with another guy in his office and pretending to be a colonel. Locke was kind of pathetic in a lot of ways before he landed on the island, and I am not referring to his being in a wheelchair. He could have done many things with his life, but took a lot of basically menial go-nowhere jobs. He asked a phone sex operator to pretend she was his ex-fiancee. Sad, really, and he knows it. He is SOMEBODY on the Island. One reason why he doens't want to leave.
TEVA SAID:
Another curious thing (not about locke) is in Raised by Another, both to her boyfriend and to the psychic Claire says that her mom would disown her if she found out she was pregnant. My issue is her mom is in a coma at this time- you think they are just talking figuratively?[/quote]
Yeah, everyone did forget about this question. I originally thought it was an example of multiple timelines going on at the same time, but a lot of people poo-pooed that theory. In one timeline Claire's mother was in a coma. In one she wasn't. In one timeline Kate stood up for her mother and killed the stepfather. In one she didn't. Etc. I hope there are answers to this question.
It could, of course, have been as simple as Claire just not wanting to tell her friend that her mom was in a coma. Claire's friend responds with something like: "Hasn't she already disowned you?" Claire telling her friend that her mother disowned her would explain why her mother was never around, without Claire having to admit her mom was in a coma. Maybe she just didn't want to be pitied. Or maybe she wanted at least one person to think Claire had a normal family and so it was a little bit true as long as that friend believed it. Also, so long as Claire kept up the story that her mother was a bad person and disowned her, she didn't have to deal with the grief of being responsible for the car crash. She was the one driving, and though she wasn't drunk or impaired...she was the one driving. Remember, she never really deals with the grief until she visits her mother just before taking Flight 815 to LA to give away her baby. She admits to her mother that she is pregnant and she apologizes profusely for putting her mother in the hospital.
