Kate Austen
Kate Austen is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Kate is a fugitive, and was being pursued by Marshal Mars prior to the flight, for blowing up her father. Kate had been captured in Australia and was being escorted back to the United States before the crash. Kate has always seemed to run away from her past. Even on the Island, Kate exhibits a kind of evasive behavior to escape from her problems. Kate, when on the run, always had good intentions and never did any outright harm or killings to anybody, she believed she was doing things for the greater benefit of others. This view is prominently connected with her actions of her father's murder - she believed she was relieving her mother from his abusive presence. Kate is strong-willed, useful and clever, but dislikes being alone and is usually level-headed.
She has escaped from the captivity of the Others with Sawyer, and has formed an ambiguous romantic relationship with him, despite still being unsure about her feelings for Jack.

So is Walt= new Dali? Locke the new panchen? And what about Richard?

Dude...
Lostpedia: In the Season 3 DVD commentary for "The Man from Tallahassee", Richard Alpert is described as someone who is not interested in leading the Others but is very influential in finding and selecting a leader. In the commentary for Man Behind the Curtain, he is described as being similar to a Panchen Lama choosing the next Dalai Lama. He and Ben keep each other in "check" by having the power to pick/veto each other's replacement on the Island. Ben's role would be to pick the next Panchen, should the need arise. This keeps the two in a sort of balanced power relationship. They are allies, yet they have some measure of control over the other should one get out of hand.

I'm guessing the Jacob can look any age he wants to. Perhaps that is why Walt appeared older to Locke. He's doing new things and isn't completely in control yet.
(I know he looks older because he is older in real life, I'm just talking about the mythos of the show)

Oooooooo....wow Lostpedia really has it all. I try to stay away from there in fear I will spoil it all. I even feel quilty reading some threads at times.
So that would mean Ben was the new Dali. Because the new Dali has to pick the new Panchen....right?
Another thought, didnt John Locke (the philosopher) have something to do with the system of checks and balances in our country? Kinda reminds me of that.

Maybe that's why Ben is so concerned with making sure that Locke lives?
