Oh right, erm, some people put stars, angels or fairies on the top of their Christmas trees. Is there a different custom in the good ol' US of A?

Well, I've never heard of putting a fairy on the top of the tree. Just angels or stars.

So when you say fairy - do you mean like an angel or like a fairy (aka a dandy, bothersome, etc?) I can't venture a guess without all the info.

Of course not, I accept your comment on Liverpool as it is, providing the fact that it is only to some extent, a bit true.
