Shannon Rutherford

Shannon Rutherford was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Boone's stepsister, who she frequently argued with. She was very selfish at times, though she eventually formed a romantic relationship with Sayid. Shannon survived on the Island for 48 days before she was unintentionally shot and killed by Ana-Lucia Cortez.

Locke is just trying to be a good leader for the group. He genuinely believes that there are things that are out to get the people of LOST, and he wants to protect them no matter what When someone shows that they will willingly compromise the group's safety, then they must go.

I think a major theme of Lost is obviously opposites and black/white and good/evil and the ability to change these things based on perspective and experience. The writers are showing mirror images of these characters and Locke is no different. He is going thru a change as is Jack that is sending them to be the opposite of what they once were. They were once the island survivors and this season Locke and crew are becoming the Others. That is the metamorphosis of the show. It would be interesting to see the "natives" or current actual others and how they arrived (not dharma based arrivals like Ben) and how they actually "became" the Others too. If you stretch the theme out enough, the Freighter people will eventually become the Others (especially after they 'purge' the current inhabitants of the island).

Anyway...it's one of the great many things that I love about this show. The ability to change the Black and the White and completely change the 'game.'
