Why was Eko killed off? - Page 2

Hey, it's funny you said that about Charlie because I read the same exact thing about Sun! She is an action hero in Korean movies and she originally tried out for Kate. The producers felt she wasn't right for Kate but they loved her so they created Sun for her. I bet the guy who plays Jin is grateful for that!

How HILARIOUS was it when Jin, Charlie, Desmond are going camping and Jin is telling a Korean ghost story in KOREAN with a flashlight under his chin and Hurley freaks out at the punchline. I nearly busted mah gut laughing at that. Clever. And totally believable of Hurley. That scene of Hurley and the scene where Hurley and Charlie are standing at the golf hole trying to make Jack screw up his shot might just be my favorite moments of the whole show so far.

I have a big smile right now just thinking about it!

But I digress...

Actually, about Charlie, I read that the character was supposed to be an aging has-been rockstar. Like in his 40s and well after he and his band hit it big. But they liked Dominic Monagan so much they made their Charlie younger. They made a good choice, I think.

Narrative-wise, I think the reason Eko died has to do with having his closure about the life he had led before the island. Though he was a man of his Christian faith, Eko-on-island finally refused the guilt that was with him through his whole life. He saw his life under a different light and realized that he did what he had to do to survive, may it be stealing food for Yami or drug dealing. That seemed to me to be his personal revelation in front of Smokie before the monster killed him.

I love his line "You do not know who you are talking to." then he chopped those guys up real good. My kind of preacher. lol. Sorta like Clint Eastwood's "Pale Rider".

You and I agree pot pie. That Korean ghost story scene was brilliant. I also liked the scene where Jin and Sawyer are drinking the old flat DHARMA beer and Sawyer teaches him to say something like "no your butt doesn't look big in that dress." I don't remember exactly but so funny!

Eko's stories seemed to be happening simultaneously as the other stories but not because of the other stories. He could have his experiences completely separate from everyone else on the island and that made him very easy to just pluck from the equation.

I didn't like Eko's character because of all the religious stuff. I thought that kind of didn't fit in...Loved the accent the actor that played Eko has, though.^^

what's wrong with having religious stuff????

Will society not be happy until every reference to Christian religion is taken out of our government, our schools, our jobs, our TVs, and our lives altogether?

the show is rife with religious references from religion of all kinds.

Interesting that only the "Christian religion" is mentioned and disliked.

I really liked Eko's character and was upset when he was killed off.. I think he was a nice balance to Locke.. I miss Eko and realized it when I was rewatching season 2 & 3 with my sister since I finally got her into LOST and she is getting caught up now!

I hated Eko. He was pointless and his flashbacks were so boring and lame.
