in the episode "?" where eko has to investigate the miracle of the girl who came back to life after drowning, we are introduced to "charlotte" who is the aforementioned girl. she later confronts him at the airport as he is about to get on the plane. doesn't she look eerily similar to the charlotte who is now on the island?

I don't think it's the same Charlotte because the timeline is off. Charlotte the psychic's daughter was in highschool during the plane crash. Even considering the four years that (we think) passed in the show's real time (while on the island it's only been less than 100 days), she still would not be old enough to have finished highschool, college, grad school, and to have been recruited by Dharma...or whomever. It's an interesting idea, however, and they both have pale skin and striking, bony features.

plus everything Ben said about island Charlotte's life doesn't match up with drowned Charlotte's. they do look similar though.

The two Charlottes were played by two different girls, but it is interesting that there are so many characters that have the same name! I don't think Charlotte is the commonest (did i just make up that word?) of names and now we have two characters on the show with that name. Interesting.

They do look oddly similar but the roles are not played by the same actress. The first Charlotte we meet is Australian and played by an actress named Brooke Anderson. The Charlotte we have recently met is from England (as confirmed by Ben) and played by Rebecca Mader. Sorry to bum everyone out with talk about the actor who plays these people but I think it's pretty obvious they aren't intending us to think this is the same person. Weird coincidence though.

i knew they weren't played by the same actress, that would be too obvious.

but ever since season 1 we have been talking about characters that look similar or seem similar. such as, hey did you see michael's lawyer, wasn't she...etc etc.

i think, as someone else has posted before, the makers of the show are picking people and names in such a way to confuse us even more than we already are!!!
