Ana-Lucia Cortez
Ana-Lucia Cortez was an ex-police officer who sat in the tail section of Flight 815 when it crashed. She took a leadership role in the group and led her party across the Island, reuniting them with the rest of the passengers. Ana was known to be very emotionally cold and her background in policing helped her with her leadership role. Ana-Lucia survived on the Island for 65 days before being shot and killed by Michael.

she could only have been reciently divorced, you can get married at 18 without your parents permission, and it was probably a short marriage. it could be Jae Lee did he ever say why it did not work out with his american woman??

From Lostpedia Jae Lee - Lostpedia
Jae Lee was the wealthy son of the owner of the Seoul Gateway Hotel and the hotel's General Manager.
He attended Harvard and studied Medieval Russian Literature, where he met and fell in love with an American woman. He met Sun on a family arranged date, but told her he wasn't interested because of his previous love, which apparently failed. ("...And Found")
He taught Sun English (at her request), and ended up having an affair with her. He gave her a strand of pearls and asked her to leave for America with him. ("The Whole Truth")
Mr. Paik found out about the affair, but instead of telling Jin about it, lied to Jin and told him Jae was stealing from him, addressing this in terms of "honor." He ordered Jin to "deliver a message" to Jae (i.e. kill him). Jin found him and assaulted him, but couldn't bring himself to kill Jae, so he told him to leave the country and never return. ("The Glass Ballerina")
Jae Lee ended up committing suicide, (confirmed by Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof in the Oct. 30, 2006 Official LOST Podcast) falling from many stories high, landing on Jin's car with the string of pearls he attempted to give Sun clutched in his hand.
Trivia
Jae Lee is the name of a Korean-American comic book artist who has illustrated titles such as Inhumans, Namor the Sub-Mariner, Hellshock and Stephen King's the Dark Tower.
Unanswered Questions
Who is his American woman?
Why did he commit suicide when before he seemed confident and almost cocky about his relationship with Sun and the definite consequences of them running off together (were they to do so)--especially when he already knew that Mr. Paik knew about it and disapproved?
From Lostpedia Jae Lee's American woman - Lostpedia
The woman that Jae Lee met and fell in love with while he was studying at Harvard. He confided in Sun after a few dates that he was just going on the dates to appease his parents, but secretly planning on marrying this woman in 6 months. After he started teaching Sun English, however, he developed a romantic interest in her instead.

yeah, and marriage laws are different from state to state too. Many states have common law marriage. Common law marriage has to due with a man and woman doing things as if they were married. Like sharing a bank account, living together, cosigning on loans, even small things like introducing herself as Ms. Kevin Whoever. Basically if a man and woman give the appearance of being husband and wife for a given amount of time (depending on the local laws for common law marriage) they would be considered legally married in a court of law. So I would say that even though she used a false name in the eyes of the law they would be married, even if the ceremonal marriage was considered void. So legally they would still have to get a divorced to break the marriage.
Of course due to the circumstances Kevin probably has a strong legal precedence to handle the divorce without her consent.

oh rite thanks, whats still not clear however is if he actually went to america for this girl or not cos theres no indication of time between when he 1st met sun and when he started teaching her english....however he started teaching her english after her marrage to jin had taken a downfall, and the last time we know she saw him before that was on the dates about the same time she met jin, i would think that this period was longer than 6 months giving him time to go over and be married to an american girl for a short while

I assumed she married someone in France, too! She wasn't married to that Brian fellow who scammed the money in Australia, right? Was she married before the ballet>going to New York>father dying time?
