One thing that keeps puzzling me is how come the Others were never interested in Rousseau once they had stolen her baby? Unlike Kate and some other Losties who are called "bad people" by the Others, Rousseau is never mentioned. Is she even lower on the totem pole of moral worth than they? My God, what did she do in her past to be ranked so low?

Is it possible that only the oldest Others who have been on the island for 16+ years know about her? The newer Others have no idea???

And how is it Rousseau never saw them if they stole her 2 week old baby? Babies are loud. Mothers are watchful and aggressively protective. Did the Others slip in at night when she was sleeping?
Were they drugged? Was she experiencing mind-altering or sleep-inducing effects of "the illness"? She couldn't have already been loco in her cabeza by then, right?

It's weird that the Others didn't keep better tabs on Rousseau over the years, if only to ensure that she wasn't trying to get her baby back. And why didn't she? You'd think she would have scoured that island from top to bottom to find Alexandra... And at some point come across the Others' village. Maybe the village has the same cloaking technology that prevents people from finding the island?

So many questions, who has the answers?

I've wondered about the same things. I came to the conclusion that since Danielle was only one person, the Others weren't too worried about her being able to get off the island. Also, I think that until the plane crash, the Others stayed mainly on the other island and she had no way of getting over there.

Maybe there will be a Danelle/Alex/Ben flashback episode.

But the barracks are on the main island, and the Others were living there when the plane crashed, and probably had been for a while. The fence would do a good job of keeping Danielle out, but maybe it has more to do with her being a little crazy...she just kept to herself, even with her daughter being taken away.

Another thing: Where are the pieces of Danielle's boat? You'd think she and her crew (while they were still alive) would have used it to create a shelter, just like the Losties did with their plane wreckage on the beach. Is it possible that she didn't crash on the island, as she claims? Maybe she was originally a Dharma Inititaive employee. We know she was a scientist. Maybe she survived the purge and that's what made her such a wackadoo? That might also explain why she never tried to get her daughter back. She knew she was hopelessly outnumbered.

Lots of good questions! I always wondered about Rousseau also, as in how could she have there so long and not have known about all the hatches and never explored the radio tower or tried to send a new broadcast? You would think she would be desparate to find her daughter, and have looked everywhere she could, except for her fear of the "others". And she had never seen the "electric fence" before and had she ever found the food from the food drops before or was she just on a steady diet of mango and wild boar????? Lots of questions,,,,,,hhmmmmmm

i think she just kept to herselfand what she knew, she knew the others were dangerous and she would have guessed she was outnumbered greatly seen as there was only one of her she really had no hope. i think rousseau never eplored the island trying to find stuff and didnt come across much because her main objective was survival,

Rousseau Also Never Crossed The Lines That Put Forth There For She Was Out Of Harms Way Or Possibley They Thought She Was Dead

i dont think they thought she was dead, but the knew she would not be a threat because she did not cross the lines so left her to it,

i remember friendly saying to jack back in season to in the whole crossing the line speech that they chose to let them share their island, but that would change if they crossed the line, maybe Rousseau also recieved this threat

Chicken, i thnk you are onto something with your ex-Dharma employee. I've posted elsewhere that she may have been brainwashed by ben for two reasons. To protect himself from her memory, and protect Danielle from Smokey.

If you think about it, she claims to have come in on a boat, but perhaps her memories are distorted. She remembers the day she got to the island, standing a top the submarine. Later, she remembers fellow scientists, a lover, perhaps even a husband. She remembers them all laying there, dead. Next, she's in the jungle all alone, memories of a crashed boat, deserted island, having killed the team with her because of lunacy, and crude maps showing her safe places. If she chances upon Smokey, he will see she is from a research boat, innocent, crazy, whatever.

Danielle remembers a submarine? Woah!--When was this?

I thought she remembered her colleagues getting sick, rather than simply remembering them alive one minute, then a loss of time, then dead all around her. So then she doesn't ACTUALLY remember mercy killing her colleagues, she just made that assumption when she saw that she was the only one left alive? (You know what happens when you assume, right?--ha ha)

The memories of her husband and colleagues dead take place in Danielle's wackadoo memory BEFORE her memories of the crashed boat? Really? If that's true mabye she's NOT actually lying because a good liar would recognize the timeline doesn't add up for her story to be true and change the story. Maybe she's crazier than I thought?

How would brainwashing Danielle protect her from the smoke monster? I was assuming that the smoke monster was making moral judgements about people and letting them live or die based on that calculation. Brainwashing wouldn't affect the balance. Just how much of a person's brain/memories can the smoke monster read, do you think?

Do you think the maps were planted on Danielle by Ben to keep her in certain areas and out of other areas? And Danielle had been brainwashed to think that she or her team created the maps? I guess that would explain why the coastline is so detailed but certain manmade structures near the coast (the humongo foot statue, for one) are not featured.
