Desmond David Hume
Desmond David Hume was the lone resident of the Swan at the time of the Flight 815 crash. He was discovered by Locke, Kate and Jack a month later after they had blown open Hatch. After his failed attempts to leave the Island, Desmond joined the camp of survivors. Following the destruction of the Swan, Desmond gained a mysterious ability to see flashes of the future, with which he predicted Charlie's imminent death.

Hurley killed Libby's husband, David!
Most likely in the deck collapse. Libby, in her grief and rage, either fakes crazy to get admitted to Santa Rosa Hospital so she can stalk Hurley. Or she actually does goes a little crazy in her grief and "coincidentally" (*wink wink*), in true Lost style, is commited to the same hospital as Hurley.
Maybe it was even she who initiated Hurley's visions of "Dave" in the first place! She wanted Hurley to see Dave and be haunted by him as intensely as she is. That the two men have the same name CAN'T possibly be a coincidence, right??? Fate is such an important theme in this show... I'm guessing in a future episode a photo of "Dave" will fall out of Libby's wallet, though likely not in Hurley's presence. (Unless of course, he was so guilt-ridden and out of it, that he sees the photo of the man he killed and his mind takes that face and creates "Dave" the hallucination) I have chills.
Maybe once Penny was out of the hospital she was easily talked into giving her boat away to Desmond because she was assured that doing so would harm Hurley in some way down the road? But who could have known about events that far in the future? Penny's father? The Hanso Foundation? Sun's father? Who else?

Maybe so, but if Penny was secretly recruited by Penny's father to get Desmond into the sailboat race, as has been posited by many on this site, why would she be upfront about her husband's death or any other personal information? Her husband might not even be dead! She might never have been married at all! But it makes a pretty compelling story to say "My dead husband named his boat after me, and was a great sailor who always wanted to do this race--take my oboat, he would have wanted you to do the race for him!" Right? It pretty much seals the deal, so to speak. You've got your greedy people who would have taken her up on the offer because it's a gorgeous sailboat. And the rest? Well, they wouldn't have had the heart to turn down that guilt-laden offer. And anyway, if Penny had been stalking Hurley at Santa Rosa Medical Facility she would have already been in the habit of lying and being cagey.
Lost is a show where you can't believe a fact just because it's presented to you as fact. Turned out Henry Gale wasn't Ben's real name at all and he wasn't a crashed hot air balloon pilot. He said he was, but he wasn't. The Nigerian men on the plane proved NOT to be priests in the end, remember? There are so many examples.
I have no idea if I'm right or not, but it's fun to think about.

Ugh!! I DO mean Libby, Wednighter! Thank you. That's the 2nd time in this thread that I've said "Penny" when I meant "Libby." In a different thread someone else kept writing "Libby" when he/she meant "Nikki." I'm going to take this as a sign that people here on LostTalk have Libby on the brain, that we're assuming she'll play an important role in the story in a future season, and that we are all really impatient to get some answers. I know I am.
Either that or it was just too many margaritas yesterday.
