You're right Wed, the Aussie police handed him a ticket, I remember that distinctly.
Now we have to take it one step further and see who has affected who else, or what else on the island and it what way, and match them up with bought ticket or given ticket. If Malkin and Paik and Widmore can get people onto a certain plane, then it's science in what they were doing. The ones who bought tckets and happened on that plane is Fate.
Libby is seemingly a pawn in all of this, but how, besides giving Desmond a boat, would she have affected Hurly getting on the plane, who may have killed her husband, and was also worth a crapload of money by a 1 in a billion chance, using numbers he heard in Santa Rosa. did Libby in some way have hurley and Lenny meet in the asylum. Did Libby sacrifice her husband to change hurleys fate. My head hurts.

Well, lets look at Charlie, since he's gone now and we take a look at the whole of his Lost career, and see what he has affected.
1. Claire, first and foremost. Became her pseudo husband. Basically saved her life, for not for Desmond trying to save Charlie, Claire would have drown. numerous other Claire helpings. Claire was given a ticket.
2. Sawyer, helped Sawyer get guns. Sawyer was given a ticket.

Does anyone see where I'm going with this, and sorry Chicken for jacking your thread, I had a point to the original theme somewhere in here.

Sayid CIA had him undercover with old friend who was involved in terriorist activities CIA bought his ticket but he made them switch it to flight 815 so he could claim his dead friends body so he could have a proper burial

Charlie In Sidney to visite brother Liam We assume Charlie bought his own ticket but don' t think it has ever been said

Claire To give Aaron up for adoption to a couple in LA that the pysic found Psysic bought the plane ticket for her

Jin Delivering watchs for Sun's father Mr. Piak in LA Assume that Mr. Paik's company bought their tickets
Sun Was with Jin to deliver the watches She was going to leave Jin before they got on the flight but last minute changed her mind

Hurley He was going to visite Sam Toomy about the numbers He bought his own plane ticket home

I don't think we should jump to the conclusion that Jack bought his own ticket to Australia. It was Jack's mother's idea that he go there in the first place. Jack didn't even know his father was missing until his mother told him. Then his mother guilt-tripped him into promising he would find Christian and bring him home.

I'm not saying that Jack's mother was part of a conspiracy or anything, just that she probably bought the ticket.

I would say at this point its 50/50 if he or his mother bought the ticket.. She could have but she does seem hurt and upset with Jack at this point and maybe she didn't want to... He is a sucessful surgeon.. I'm sure he has the money..

Also just an FYI this info is from 5/8/07 when I was putting the list and reasons together, if some of the info is old I'm sorry it was a quick copy and paste job... LOL

She wanted Hurley Drunk! If Michael Didn't kill her then Dharma would take over the island again and try and kill the others. And if they kill the others then the island goes wacko and the Cerberus will blow up those pylons and kick some Dharma butt.

Perhaps Libby is Annie from Ben's youth, who like Richard Alpert periodically ventures off the island to influence the fates of people to bring them TO the island.

...really far out on a limb now...
