Michael Dawson
Michael Dawson is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. He had parental issues with his son, Walt, but the two have bonded with their time on the island. Michael shot dead Ana-Lucia and Libby in order to release Ben from captivity; and ultimately caused the capture of Jack, Sawyer and Kate, when he made a deal with the Others. His whereabouts are currently unknown after he left the Island with his son Walt on a motor boat.

Red shirts, Libby, other stuff
Well, I've never claimed that the "red shirt" theory is 100% reliable 100% of the time. In fact, in an earlier post I said that if it were it wouldn't be very interesting. It would be too much of a giveway. I have ni idea how reliable it is. I'm just putting together evidence to try to come up with patterns and theories like everyone else. But the fact that Boone actually said it out loud to Locke (and to all of us, the audience) tells me that it's something the producers want us to be aware of. Also, it's an entry in Lostpedia, which tells me that it's "canonical" and therefore considered important by a fairly large number of people.
Also, I never considered Libby a throwaway character. I've been assuming (as have a ton of other people on this list) that Libby will play a big role in a later season, and that all the important holes in her lifestory will be cleared up and will tie in very closely in other characters' lives an in the narrative arc of Lost as a whole. Libby is DEFINITELY a catalyst character. For one thing, we know for certain that she enabled Desmond to enter the sailing race, which got Desmond on the island, which got him pressing the button, which got him turning the failsafe key, which enabled him to foresee and prevent the lightning from striking Claire's tent, which enabled him to let Charlie to choose a noble death, blahblahblah. We know this for certain already. These few facts alone make her WAY more than a throwaway character. But, as I said, in future episodes (obviously flashbacks 'cause she's dead now) details of her life will be revealed and will prove to have had a catalytical effect on many characters' lives. Just watch and see if they don't. I'll bet you my last jar of imaginary peanut butter on it! Ooh. It's super chunky.

If Hurley wore a red shirt in the first season, then dies in season four or five you would say it was because he wore a red shirt 90 days ago? (island time) and according to the other post you were on (hurley killed libby's husband) I wouldn't say that libby was a throw away charachter!

This is just my theory. I think it explains why Libby was at the same mental hospital as Hurley, why she was so evasive and obviously deceitful when he kept asking her why she looked so familliar (she said he stepped on her foot when he got on flight 815--but Hurley sat in the front section and Libby was in the back with the rest of the 'Tailies'). It also might explain why she gave the boat to Desmond.
I'm just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks.

[Boone was handling a red shirt when he and Locke were digging for the hatch AND while doing this Boone was explaining the meaning of the "Red Shirts" in Star Trek. To be absolutely SLAPPED in the faces like that with that clue, to me means it's not coincidence. The producers want us to know that there is this trope we should be aware of. Foreshadowing, baby, foreshadowing!! Dig it!

Sorry chickenpotpies When I read this quote I went through it kind of fast. I thought you were saying anna-lucia and libby were throw away charchters. I was wrong though. Hey are you gonna answer my question I asked you on the post "hurley killed libby's husband" I really want to know your thoughts on this.

Just speculation at this point, read the whole thread of "hurley killed libby's husband" in the charachter and cast discussion if you haven't already. Interesting stuff.

I was asking if you thought all the passengers of 815 were tricked into being on that flight by penny's father, paik, hanso, and other heads of businuess.

Oh, well you know, I didn't think it was a conspiracy before. At least in the sense of one person or group behind it all. But then somebody (Wednighter? I'm sorry, I don't remember) posted a whole long list of people who all had their tickets bought for them, and it makes me wonder...
Even if it turns out that we can attribute all of the plane tickets to one person or group, it could still be that the universe itself manipulated people and events to get all the Losties on the same plane at the same time. the whole fate thing. The universe's conspiracy. A harder to prove, but also a harder theory to disprove. On that note, at the start of Season 1 (and still sometimes today) I wondered if they all crash landed on the same island because each castaway had a special skill to contribute to the survival of the group. Sun had her knowledge of plant medicines, Arzt had his trade winds and explosives knowledge, Locke had his hunting skills, Michael had his construction knowledge, etc. I guess that might still be true too. We'll see.
