Ben and his 'Plan'...

...still makes no sense.

He needed a spinal surgeon to save him...so as he tells Juliet in the Pearl, he has concocted a plan to lure Michael to come for Walt...

Then as we saw, he would arrange a swap...Walt for his surgeon and friends...fair enuff. So, they communicate by computer, posing as Walt and off goes Michael, and all seems to be going according to the plan...soon he will see his Walt, they will exploit his fatherly instincts, and they will give him a list, and his much needed surgeon will come running.

SO WHY DID BEN THEN GO AND GET HIMSELF CAUGHT, AFTER THEY ALREADY TOOK MICHAEL INTO CUSTODY???

I'd say these writers got themselves painted into a corner, when they decided that 'Henry' was gonna be 'Ben'...

If it was intentional then Ben had some reason for wanting to get inside the Swan station. When they have the lock down and Locke gets stuck under the blast door Ben has to go push the button. You would have to say he did push the button, because the place didn't implode. So he lied to John saying he didn't push it. What else might he have done when he was alone in the computer room? Maybe this would be a reason to intentionally get captured.

Yea if you think about it that makes a lot of sense. As alex said her father is good at manipulating others, its what he does. So he manipulated Locke into thinking he could not push the button, in the same way he manipulated Locke to make him think it was his idea to blow up the sub.

ummm hmmm well maybe he pressed the button to gain Lokes trust, that way he would defend him...? ^^;

Yea I think its all about giving Locke this false sense of control. Locke has been so desperate to gain some because he could never attain any with his father and now here is Ben this pseduo father/control figure and Locke desperately wants to get some of this control. Locke wants to feel like he is the important one on the island and Ben is completely aware of that, which is where manipulation comes into play. But**** Ben does need Locke as well because he sees that Locke was healed on the island and he has not healed yet.

I think maybe that the swan hatch was the key to healing people.
But if the others knew that they would of stoped locke from blowing it up

I think it has something to do with faith as well. Locke is all about believing in the powers of the island and he has this spiritual outlook a lot of times (the same kind of Faith Rose has as well and we know she was healed too) and Ben is this man of science and reasoning. I think that may have something to do with it.

yea maybe thats ture. It was faith that healed lcoke because he was meant to do something important on the island
