James Ford

James Ford, better known by the alias of "Sawyer", is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Sawyer's early life was ravaged by the con man who ultimately claimed both his parent's lives through conning them, instantly orphaning him. As a child, he wrote a letter to this con man, hoping to deliver it to him in person one day. Sawyer set out to search for him, presumably after he left school, however he, himself, ultimately became a con man and became the man he was hunting, became Sawyer. Revenge plays a big part in Sawyer's life, starting with the real Sawyer. On the island, Sawyer has often used his abilities to con people to get his wishes, and keeps a stash of useful items with him. However, after the death of the real Sawyer, he has begun to rethink his ways and is slowly turning into a leader for the survivors.

He escaped from the captivity of the Others with Kate, and has formed a relationship with her.

I don't think the healing powers of the island have anything to do with someone having faith or not. Locke definitely loses his faith for a while after seeing the Pearl video, but his legs remain ok.

I think the healing powers of the island are strictly scientific and the reason they don't work on Ben is scientific too.

What about when Locke started to feel weak in his legs again? And then Boone was like the sacrifice for the island and he was ok. I do think that is weird. Its like he believed again that he was talking to the island and doing something for it so his strength came back.

good point, I guess I just looked at that as more of a psychological thing with Locke. Which in a way could be seen as a faith kinda deal, because if you believe something your mind can make it a physical reality. Usually though this works negatively like you think your sick and then you actually do get sick. But not the other way around.

My big thing is that if the healing powers of the island can distinguish between someone of faith or not then that would imply that they have intelligence. And if it has intelligence than it is a being of some kind, divine or mortal. I just don't think that is the direction the show is going, but just my opinion.

Ok so I thought that if we could put dates with events that would help to try and figure out what is going on with Ben's plan...

11/9/04- Juliette and Ben are overheard in the Pearl station by Paulo who was hiding the diamonds. Saying that Ben is going to use Michael.

11/9/04- Michael recieves a message on the swan computer saying that he needs him to come for him...

11/12/04- Michael is captured by Pickett

11/18/04- Henry Gale is brought to the Swan by Sayid after Danielle captures him.

If there are any other events that we need a date for that would fit in with this please just ask and we can get a "timeline" of Ben's plan and when it happened...

I think we can dismiss the whole idea about the Swan having something to do with Locke getting healed. In fact it seems that the island and all technology on it are in opposition (fence, magnetic beacons, ect.)

We need to remember that the Island doesn't want the Others there. Otherwise they wouldn't need the fence. Might be something to think about when you come around to the whole mammas dropping dead thing. Just a thought.

oh! maybe that's why Ben wants Loke, Ben could be trying to get himself headed but he didn't know how Loke did it so he's trying to test him to see how he got healed

Perhaps he actually got caught in one of Rousseau's traps, and, since he knows everything about everyone on the island, he knew about Henry Gale too. but then, what was he doing out in the jungle alone?
Maybe he didn't know ENOUGH and had to get in with the survivors himself to actually meet Jack, to learn his weaknesses firsthand. Maybe he just wanted someone to dominate his manipulative ass, and Sayid fit the bill. And then, he came out on top again! What a creep!
