I tend to disagree just a bit. I found that in the first season there was just a bit of racial stereotyping going on. I found by late in Season 1 and then all the way through Season 2 that the people on the Island got more tolerant. At the start, however, they were very hard on Sun and Jin, and on Sayid, for no other reason than they looked like they didn't "belong". Am I mistaken or didn't someone accuse Jin or Sayid of burning the raft?
However it was balanced nicely by the conflict between Michael and Jin over the watch Jin was supposed to deliver to america that Michael had found on the beach and was wearing.
By Season 2 Michael and Sawyer were somewhat closer, Jin and Sun were pretty much accepted, there was Bernard and Rose yes, and Shannon and Sayid were shacked up. By Season 3 I don't see much of a race issue at all - they realize that they are all in this together.
Interesting when it's considered that way, if only the whole world could come to that realization maybe so many people wouldn't have to die...
