Mr. Eko
Eko, also known as Mr. Eko or Father Tunde, was one of the tail section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. He was a notorious war lord and drug smuggler in Nigeria before his brother Yemi's death. To get out of his country he hastily became a priest, but after Yemi's death, he seemed to take his role more seriously. Eko survived on the Island for 72 days before he was killed by the Monster.

I was so sure Eko would be sticking around for quite some time that honestly, I didn't even take it seriously when the impression on his face began fading away in his last moments. Like I wrote in another thread, not only the phsyical but also the spirtual constitution of the guy looked so invincible to me that it took a while to get it that he's gone- silly me. I am still surprised as to why a unique character like Eko is out so quickly, especially in the beginning of a new season.. I was hoping many shiny days and great adventures would be ahead of him and Locke as they go tracking people or their fate.
My fav Eko moments are when he spoke softly and kindly to Locke (when there seemed to be a spiritual or fate-ful connection between the two, implied) or to innocent civilians (the villagers from his past life, in his flashbacks) and the impression on his face of controlled temper when he needed to confront some other person (especially Ana Lucia).
In retrospect, I appreciate Eko's final challange to his brother's ghost all the more , as he refused to resent what he did out of necessity and let go of what he can not control. In effect, that was Yemi's initial wish for Eko, in an earlier vision Eko had (episode 3 or 4, can't recall well).
Mr Eko will be missed dearly but I guess we'll get to see him a bit more if he comes to Locke's visions in later episodes. (remember Locke's self-quest is not over, though he somehow recovered from doubting fate)

Q&A With Akinnuoye-Agbaje
Girls Sports Videos Maxim
The first thing one notices upon chatting with Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is that he sounds nothing at all like his most memorable characters: not Simon Adebisi from Oz, Mr. Eko from Lost, or Majestic from Get Rich or Die Tryin'. In fact, he speaks with a cheerful British lilt and boasts a sharp sense of humor that he hasn't yet flashed on camera. So with a few of the aforementioned ass kickers having made their way into American living rooms (courtesy of recent DVD releases of Get Rich and Lost's second season), we sat Akinnuoye-Agbaje down to answer a bunch o' persnickety questions.
