Actually the reason why his name means "Good" is probably because hes going to save EVERYONES FREAKING LIVES NEXT SEASON. How dare you insult the man who will save Jack and Sawyers Pathetic little lives. Sayid, Jin, and Bernard kill 7 others. Ben tells tom not to kill them no matter what. Bens saves Sayid, Jin, and Bernards lives because Tom wanted to kill them. Sawyer KILLS tom for taking Walt. The others have mercy, The Losties don't. This PROVES the others have higher moral standings.

anyways the producers have hinted towards Ben being there savior in season 4. I KNOW the others and the Losties will probably team up in season 4 to destroy Naomi's people. How can you hate the smartest person in this show? He can make you think something is your idea when it is his. He can make Locke blow up his submarine. He almost has psychic powahs. I find it insulting that you hate the soon to be most important character. Ben lies because he does what he has to do to keep his people alive. Ben is just a leader he has to lie to get his job done.

Also he trys to save there lives by getting the phone from jack. Then Jack our little hero says no, Beats him senseless, Calls the people and gets everyone screwed, Then somehow leaves the island and says "Dang I wish I listened to Ben because he WAS NOT LIEING."

Ben is the greatest and smartest character in the show. Only a Jack wouldn't be able to see that. Also I think in season 4 Ben and Locke make up for Ben shooting him.

If you insult Ben, You insult me.

Ben is an awesome character. But whether or not he is a good or bad guy remains to be seen IMO. Right now I don't see him as any kind of savior. From what I have seen so far, he is a bad guy.

Another point to consider is this:
Since we know Ben is able to manipulate people into doing what he wants by making them think it is their idea. Isn't it possible or even probable that he actually wanted Jack to make the call?

Even after everything we have seen about Ben he is still a hard one to figure out. Thats one of the things that make him such a great character.

He was happy when Locke killed Naomi. He told Locke to finish Jack. Ben was very serious. He would have pancaked a bit more after Locke killed Naomi because he didn't know Jack new how to use the phone. He was truly scared for his life and everyones life.

Blech! I don't like Ben! And that is why Ben is going to end up being a good guy and probably save everyone one --> and sacrifice himself in order to do it! Dang that Ben Linus!
