Kate Austen
Kate Austen is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Kate is a fugitive, and was being pursued by Marshal Mars prior to the flight, for blowing up her father. Kate had been captured in Australia and was being escorted back to the United States before the crash. Kate has always seemed to run away from her past. Even on the Island, Kate exhibits a kind of evasive behavior to escape from her problems. Kate, when on the run, always had good intentions and never did any outright harm or killings to anybody, she believed she was doing things for the greater benefit of others. This view is prominently connected with her actions of her father's murder - she believed she was relieving her mother from his abusive presence. Kate is strong-willed, useful and clever, but dislikes being alone and is usually level-headed.
She has escaped from the captivity of the Others with Sawyer, and has formed an ambiguous romantic relationship with him, despite still being unsure about her feelings for Jack.

Sooooo...which 'part' is in awe?
Actually I was away in Ireland when the season opener aired so I watched eps 1 & 2, back 2 back...so the Sarah comment and the Juliet comment stood out fairly clear...On the 4th october, in a Dublin Pub I met some Irish Lost junkie with a Hatch hyroglyphs tshirt, who couldnt believe Id go away during the season opener! The hard-cores are EVERYWHERE!!! Anyway...
I'll tell ya what 'Other' comment caught my ear: Juliet and her beef about free will:
"Silly me for sinking so low as to select something that Ben wouldn't like. Here I am thinking that free will still actually exists on..."
Like some disallusioned idealist hippie...

I found her remark very interesting since she is involved in a
project which captures people, locks them up, keeps them away from their friends, makes them do hard labor for no obvious reason
other than to break their spirits and become easy to control.
