but this makes me curious: if that's true, why is lockes leg broken? i think it would have been awesome if it healed the next day or something lol.

Cool thoughts. Here are some of mine in response to the bullet points.

Bullet 1: That's cool. I hadn't notice that Vincent was gone, but, thinking back, I think you're right.

Bullet 3: The magnetic pull inside the hatch (behind the sealed-by-concrete-passageways) is something other than just the island. I think the writers are giving us clues, it's part of the geothermal thing Jack and Sayidd talked about. Or it is part of the secret power-source (the question mark at the center of the glow-in-the-dark diagram) that I think the losties should be searching for...that and the transmitter. If that transmitter has been around for sixteen years, maybe Sayidd could figure out how to boost its transmitting power (thereby breaking the "orientation rule" against trying to communicate with the outside world).

Bullet 4: Did anyone notice Michael's comment that the Outsiders 'have almost no weapons of any kind. No guns'? I wondered about that back when Zeke put that pistol to Kate's head. It looked like an old WWII lugar--an antique! This might tie into the idea that the Outsiders were Dharma people who were "written off" after the incident. Dharma armed Station 3 (the Swan) and the timer actually runs some sort of defense perimeter that the Others can't cross (those lines Zeke was talking about, maybe).

Bullet 5: I thought the flashback scene where Locke gives Rose her pill bottle back, really cool. The scene preceding it when she comment to Locke that they both know he's going to heal faster than is normal great, too. Locke looks at her and you can almost see him remembering the incident where she saw him in the wheelchair, but then (good writing) does not underline it by saying anything.

As to the breaking of Locke's leg, the island can't prevent injuries. Hence that fatalities we've had over the last two seasons. As for it healing the next day, that would have been too obvious. Remember, the show's creators want this to be subtle, there are usually multiple explanations for any given thing.

And finally Bullet 6: You're right. Rose knows things. And one of the things she knows, she hints at to Locke when they're sitting on the beach. I think she thinks that the islands healing powers don't work inside the hatch. Remember, she did laundry inside the hatch for only a couple of days before returning to washing stuff outside. I think she said she just didn't like it in there.

Locke, after sitting at the beach, returned to the hatch and began drawing the diagram with renewed vigor...as though he's gotten the message that the hatch was not the end of his 'mission.' Access to the interior of the hatch was just another stepping stone. Now he has to figure out the diagram and what that question mark in the middle is.

Comments, anybody?

Oh, P.S., Did anybody catch Sawyer's thoughtful look after being surprised by Jack having a gun? I think Charlie's gonna be in real trouble soon. Remember, Sawyer hates a thief--he beat the crap out of Boone when he caught him going through his stuff during the first season.
