in the episode where claire finds the other hatch with kate...in one of her flashback with ethan he goes in the hallway and talks to another person, you see that person from the side and he looks just like locke's dad. i believe thats the connection of him being on the island...kind of interesting how they linked rose and locked together having illnesses before the island and now both being somewhat cured.
