Sort of sounded like Sayid was baiting Charlie to see what he'd say to incriminate himself as traitor/Other. Considering Sayid's experience in gathering intelligence, if Charlie doesn't "bite" on one of Sayid's sympathetic conversational comments, we might see another torture session.
