Do you really think money really had anything to with their willingness to lie? I don't think that could be it at all. Hurley is proof in point. He definitely doesn't need the money...he won the lottery for goodness sakes. There has to be a bigger motivation.

I am sure the reason they would all agree to lie has something to do with the safety of their friends, and theirs- lots of things happened on the island that probably no one wants to be held accountable for- different note- I think the picture of them shown during the press conference "arriving" on the beach is totally staged- any thoughts?

I agree that they are lying because they have not other choice mostly from what Ben said to Sayid in the Econimst..at the end where he is stiching him up.. So there has to be a threat to someone that Sayid is under the impression that he is protecting his "friends"..

News from the latest official podcast reveals that ABC will be showing Part 1 of "there's no place like home" before Parts 2 and 3 on May 29th. They also said that Part 1 will have an extended press conference scene.

Well, as a member of the press I can say that sometimes there are press conferences where only certain outlets are invited or certain reporters can come. (Those folks get special privileges, like asking two questions.) And in this 24-hour cable news world, there would be a "Special Investigation" into the real story of the Oceanic Six. They would have to deny invitations to speak to just about every media outlet in the world. I don't think Geraldo or Barbara would take kindly to being denied an interview.

I wonder what they will cover in the extended press confrence scene?

i hated watching them lie! and i felt so sorry for sun when she said that jin didn't make it off the plane. you could see how hard it was for her and how jack looked at her brought a little tear to my eye.

and how awful was it when claires mum told jack about claire and he had to just pretend he hadn't known her! i would definitely crack if that was me!

I personally loved that stupid, freaked out look Jack was sporting as Claire's mum revealed that they were siblings.
my wife and I laughed at him very loudly.

Here is my question to the press at the press conference.... "Why did NO ONE ask, 'Why the heck is Oceanic flight 815, which is a Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles, USA flight, clear over by the Sunda Trench?' " I still want an answer for that. The Sunda Trench is practically in the opposite direction from where the flight path is. Why would the press not ask that basic question?
