Going back to the mirror signaling: a mirror is meant to reflect light, not scatter it. Therefore, the sunlight that was reflected off of each of Ben's and the Others' mirrors would stay in a consistent direction. Since they were only rotating them in an up and down motion (along a horizontal axis), only people standing in the path of the width of both those mirrors would be able to see the reflection. This is exactly why it's a good communications tool because of its relative exclusivity with visibility.

This is the same phenomenon when someone reflects sunlight with their watch face into your line of sight. You don't even notice the reflection at all until the beam of light is directly in your eye.

Damn jswindle, I wanted to be the smart guy that explained that

When Ben said, "Who do you think?" I instantly thought it was Mikhail. To me Ben's tone conveyed a kind of sarcasm. Imagine him saying, "Who do you think? It's that Russian guy that has died like 15 times this year. He's the guy we bring back when we need a shocking moment."

Mikhail has a penchant for surviving when we don't expect him to possibly do so. Some theories that are floating around suggest that dead people on the island can reawaken in some form or another (i.e. "undead") as long as they are not buried (if they are buried, they have only shown up in other characters' flashbacks, hallucinations or dreams). So perhaps, Mikhail is actually dead but still animated.

I think to much is being read into this, I honestly think it was others that are at the temple.

I agree, I was just saying my first thought was well, he's been killed before and he's the kind of badass that just waits on top of a hill for Ben to act out his plan.

If I was planning on fighting those freighters dudes I'd rather have Mikhail than say... Cindy coming to rescue me.

I guess it hinges on what John runs into when he takes the elevator in The Orchid. Ben only mentioned an elevator, and not whether it goes up, or down. Could be a Wonkavator, but I automatically assumed it went only down, although I'm learning more and more not to assume.

If it does go down, I don't know the relavance of having someone up on the mountain to signal to. It obviously didn't stop Keamy and his guys from approaching The Orchid.

I am SERIOUSLY putting my thoughts on the Ben that gives himself up to Keamy is a decoy. Ben made a duplicate of himself, and the REAL BEN is waiting somewhere in the orchid to talk Ben thru the rest of this.

LOL. Cindy might have some hot napkins to ease the eyes after all the mirror messaging though.

I too want to see Mikhail as the man behind the mirror up on the hills. For one thing it's not Richard (he was in the jungle with the rest of Ben's people). Seems like the next most trustable guy for Ben is Mikhail.

Besides I missed his accent!
