Default Jack and Claire

What a great moment in TV history! I got chills running up my spine. So Jack did know Aaron was his step-nephew before Kate's trial very interesting! Thoughts anyone?

that was a wicked scene. you could literally see jack reeling back from the information, like someone wacked him right across the face. and he can't even express how much time he spent with claire on the island or that the little baby is that woman's grandchild!!!

now we know that jack knows...but the question is, does Kate know? does anyone think that jack tells kate? because knowing jack i don't think he does. i think he keeps the info from her and that's what starts eating him up inside, because he wanted to keep the lie but after he finds out who claire really was, and therefore who aaron really is, he can't keep the lie bottled up inside.

Default Mulitple Claire Timelines

Not step-nephew. Just nephew. He and Claire are blood-related.

Cablerunner and I were working on a theory a while back about alternate timelines, and collecting evidence for it. We noticed that early in first season viewers learn that Claire's mother is in a coma, and has been in a coma for years. Then in Raised By Another Claire tells her boyfriend that if her mother knew she was pregnant she would be disowned, to which her boyfriend replies "You pretty much have been already," implying that maybe her mother was alive after all. We thought it was multiple timelines at once.

Possibly the timeline where Jack meets Claire's mother at his father's wake after returning is the same timeline as the one where Claire's boyfriend tells Claire her mother has practically disowned Claire already, but NOT the same timeline where Claire and her mother get into the car accident and Claire's mother is in a coma?

Just a thought. There is also a scene in one of the first episodes of Season 1 where Sawyer says to Kate, "I know girls like you." Kate responds, "Not girls exactly like me," I thought that was another clue to multiple timelines. I still have a whole list of evidence somewhere...

Anyway, I know in my bones that the Claire mix-up above is not a simple continuity error, it's way too blatant. It's a clue to something big, and it was given to us very early on.

Huh??? Coma does not equal dead at all. Have you never seen a soap opera? Or heard of soap operas? In a lot TV shows people come out of comas all the time. A lot more often than it happens in real life. Coma doesn't mean dead at all. In real life either.

Claire's mother looked awfully pink-cheeked and healthy to have miraculously woken from a years-long coma, is all I'm saying. She could walk after years of muscle atrophy in a hospital bed? Hmmmmm...strange. Yeah, medical miracles happen in Lost, but still... If time traveling is going on--and the producers have confirmed this after denying it for three seasons--why not multiple timelines? I'll say it again: Who knows what other repercussions happened when the sky turned purple and Desmond accidentally crashed flight 815 by entering the numbers late? The sky turned freaking PURPLE!

If you've seen any Steven Segal movie, you know anyone can snap out of a coma and start kicking Mexican Ninja's asses.

I think Tikker maybe dod mean that coma does not equal (!=) dead... since there's no typeable way to put the slash thru the equal sign... but anyway...

That scene with Claire's boyfriend referring to her practically being disowned already - I wondered if it meant moreso that her Mom's side of the family as well has disowned her , possibly related to the accident? Or couldn't it just be that her mom woke up prior to that? To me, that makes the most logical sense and would then explain her seemingly-complete recovery by the time of Christian's funeral nearly a year later.

I'd love to hear more about the two timelines theory though!

[quote=katherine98;47079] That scene with Claire's boyfriend referring to her practically being disowned already - I wondered if it meant moreso that her Mom's side of the family as well has disowned her, possibly related to the accident?

POTPIES:
Well, but Claire moved in with her aunt after the accident. Aunt Lindsey was totally pissed about the accident and initially blames Claire, but she didn't throw Claire out on the street. And she was in a furious rage that Christian came to see Claire in the middle of the night. She was trying to protect Claire. You don't get that upset trying to protect someone you've disowned.

KATHERINE98:
Or couldn't it just be that her mom woke up prior to that? To me, that makes the most logical sense and would then explain her seemingly-complete recovery by the time of Christian's funeral nearly a year later.

POTPIES:
Think back to Par Avion, last season. (I think...) Claire says goodbye to her mother in the hospital and admits to her mother that she is pregnant and flying to LA the next day to give it up for adoption. To wake up and be up and around and walking and speaking coherently after 3 months would be a real miracle. Probably a bigger miracle even than Sarah's being able to walk again.

Ah, good points - thanks! I just got S3 for Mother's Day and I just started re-watching it so I'm still hashing out some of the details. (that's why I love this site!)
