Default Whidmore was the owner/funder of the dharma initiative

Anyone disagree? How else would the freighter people know where "the tempest" was. And also when the military leader opened the folder to find where Ben would go hide if they torched the island it looked like an inside page had the dharma sign on it.

That just means the Widmore Corporation has been "involved" with the island. So was the Hanso Foundation and Suns fathers company, Paik Heavy Industries...It doesn't mean Charles Widmore owned it, or the Darma Initiative. Although Charles seemed to think it was all his, I think it involved a lot of people. Probably all the people that Sayid is going around killing.

Actually, the "logo on the folder" discussion is on another thread.

When does it mention Paik Heavy Industries being "involved" with the island? Is this a fact or somewhat of a theory?

I think I read somewhere that in a Jin/Sun centric episode Sun went to see her father at his place of business to ask a large sum of money to pay off Jin's blackmailing mother. As Sun enters her father's office Paik is talking in Korean to his employees and is upset over something. Later translated it turns out Paik was upset about a botched shipping paperwork or something. Many people believe this paperwork is what Tom showed Micheal in "meet kevin johnson" with Tom stating this paperwork was to purchase the plane used in the 815 hoax wreck.

Yep.....Do a search for "Paik Heavy Industries" on Lostpedia. It also mentions connections shown in the "Lost Experience" game from last summer.

Are you thinking that Charles Widmore gave monies to Alvar Hanso to fund the D.I.? Wonder if Alvar Hanso was really his own grandfather - Magnus Hanso never really died (a highlander thing?) and Charles Widmore was really on the Black Rock as well, and Charles was the original owner of the Black Rock journal and both are really, really, quite very old? In the Lost Experience people aren't even sure how old Alvar Hanso is, but some guess, what is it, something like 112?

Upon further thought - I think you are right. The Freighter was sent by Widmore. And aboard Widmore's freighter there is a folder locked in a box. And the cover of that locked-away folder has a Dharma Station logo on it. Good job!
