Ok, seriously, who is it you guys keep calling "the Haitian"??? Do you mean Abaddon? Or someone else? If you do mean Abaddon, why do you call him "the Haitian"?? Has he ever said that he is Haitian? Has anyone on the show ever called him "the Haitian"?? I'm so confused.

I hear "the Haitian" and all I can think of is the guy with the memory clearning ability on Heroes. The one that worked with the cheerleader's dad. Is that show even still on anymore?

Yeah, not sure where Haitian came from either, unless Hurley called him that to the wards when Abaddon visited him at Santa rosa. Let's cut the Haitian and stick with Matt, or Abby if you want nicknames.

Anyway, are you saying that Richard and Abaddon are perhasp the same soul, or a shapeshifter?

I think there is a little cross over happening here with Lost and Heroes! There was a mysterious character on Heroes that didn't talk for a long time - a thin, African American, bald man - who might be who people are thinking of.
Now there was a true cross over with Lost and Heroes: Greg Grunberg from Heroes did play the pilot of Oceanic 815 - the one the monster snatched from the cockpit.
The first picture below is Matthew Abadon and the second one is the character from Heroes known only as The Haitian.

I don't think they're the same person at all... in any terms - physically, spiritually, whatever. We see in an earlier episode that Abbadon talks with Naomi about the team she's getting to go to the island (Farraday, Lewis, Lapidus) so I concluded he must work for Widmore as well. It's possible that he has access to time-travelling means and that could be why he was there when Locke was born. Or, he's just immortal b/c of island happenings (see below).

Alpert is an "other", a "hostile", what-have-you. And I believe that he does not age anymore. In the episode "The Man Behind the Curtain", Ben says to Richard, "You remember birthdays, don't you Richard?" To me, this says that Richard doesn't age anymore. Which would make it possible for him to look the same at his visit to Locke as a child as well as Ben as a child and to "us" in 2004.

Just thinking thoughts...

Moreover, I don't believe that Abbadon is connected with Oceanic at all as he claims when he visits Hurley in the mental institution in the first ep of season 4. I think that's a cover and that he really works for Widmore. However, I wouldn't put it past Widmore to have gained some sort of blackmail/control over Oceanic Airlines in connection to the crash. i.e. putting the false plane crash at the bottom of the ocean.

Abbadon is played by Lance Reddick. The Hatian is played by Jimmy Jean-Louis.
