I can see why some would quickly dismiss 'The Book of Law' but content and message-wise it wouldn't be an off choice for Locke totally. I think the title is deceiving for many: it is not a book with reference to logic, social collectivity or law as understood in some rigid fashion. It is a book that puts will power and strength above everything else to challenge established norms, religions and prophets. Sounds familiar?

Hey, Flaneuse - the quote you have above from "The Book" is pretty spot on. That is really interesting - good find.

I agree with the first comment, john didnt think with his heart, he only picked out something interesting (in this case the knife), i think ben and locke are both special, it´s just that ben had a lot of power and that make him dangerous.....

Thanks Steph. I thought it'd be an interesting read, especially that part of the 3rd chp.

If Richard didn't want to alter John's fate why would he go to the trouble of watching Locke for years and testing him?

Wait, wait, the "book of law" was written by Crowley? The Satan Worshipper? Now that puts a whole new spin on things for me. The island now seems like something out of an H.P.Lovecraft story! I wonder what the others worship at the temple?

This might explain the paganistic way the others carry out their
funerals.

Based on the #10 of ch3 in the Book of Law above:

Could we guess that the "Temple" contains a stele (a slab usually decorated in commemorative sense or used as a territorial marker) which serves as their Kiblah (direction they should worship) and is closed in a locked glass.

If so is this the Magic Box and what more?
