Ben's mom is named Emily.

Locke's mom is named Emily.



Now in real life, I'd just shrug this off. But in Lost? No chance.

You don't just get 2 mothers of the same name for characters so important.


Maybe Richard new there was something special about Emily. Maybe Locke was truly an immaculate conception. Maybe Ben was too, but because she was married they never knew it?

Maybe Emily's purpose in life was to have these 2 children, 1 a man of science, 1 a man of faith. The "black" and "white" references can be made to Charles and Ben, (from the shadowing on their faces when Ben was in Charles' room, they can be made about Abbaddon and someone else, they can refer to walt and aaron) there are so many possibilities to the "ying/yang" "black/white" references throughout the show.


I know Im rambling a little but...

Come on.

Locke/Ben both have a mother named Emily?

Both births happened 'sooner than expected'? Maybe the timelines for the births ran hand-in-hand with how fast a child would have to be born on the island for it to not die? (Emily was only 6 months pregnant when Locke was born and mothers seem to die around that period).

Was Walt born early? (I don't remember)

Aaron was right on time????

I'm in total agreement--there's no way that's a coincidence.

They have shown us Locke's Mom a couple of times (Swoosie Kurtz) and they've shown us Ben's Mom twice (Carrie Preston) and they clearly are not the same person.

But haven't they been shown at different ages?

I don't think they're the same person necessarily. It's still got to be more than a coincidence that they have the same name. What if the Emily who gave birth to each of them is the same person, but the Swoozie Kurtz Emily is someone else who showed up or was sent to be Locke's mom when he was looking for some reason? I'm just wondering out loud. I may be totally off.

There are many a character in this show that are unrelated but share a name;

Charlotte Malkin - Charlotte Staples Lewis
Dave (from the ward) - David (Libby's dead hubby) - David Reyes (Hugo's dad) - Desmond's middle name is David - Sawyer once conned a man named David
Daniel Farraday - Daniel (the alter boy at Eko's church) - Danny Pickett (the other Juliet shot) - Danny (Anna L's ex)

...to name a few. I think the writers just enjoy toying and confusing us with similar names

John's dad could've hired swoozie to pretend to be locke's mom as part of his kidney getting scam because by that time locke's real mom was dead from child birth (ben's birth). It isn't out of the realm of possibilities is it?

I think it was the same actress who played Locke's Mother in earlier episodes.
