 James Ford
James Ford, better known by the alias of "Sawyer", is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Sawyer's early life was ravaged by the con man who ultimately claimed both his parent's lives through conning them, instantly orphaning him. As a child, he wrote a letter to this con man, hoping to deliver it to him in person one day. Sawyer set out to search for him, presumably after he left school, however he, himself, ultimately became a con man and became the man he was hunting, became Sawyer. Revenge plays a big part in Sawyer's life, starting with the real Sawyer. On the island, Sawyer has often used his abilities to con people to get his wishes, and keeps a stash of useful items with him. However, after the death of the real Sawyer, he has begun to rethink his ways and is slowly turning into a leader for the survivors.
He escaped from the captivity of the Others with Kate, and has formed a relationship with her.

So far we've had suggestions of characters moving back and forth in time. If this had anything to do with some of the EM qualities of the island, perhaps it's about the time the island does its magic for itself.
In terms of law of physics time-travel occurs in space-time continuum so any move in time is bound to correspond to some move in space as well. An object can not be in two different places at the same time or remain to be the same object appearing simultaneously at two different times. I wrote earlier on another thread that:
"...EM appears to be more an issue of spatiality or better, of space-time continuum rather than just temporality; EM is a topographic expression of change in energy fields, it effects the physical presence/manifestation/location of object under experiment (consider the puzzle about island's location or Dan's fascination with the weird refraction of sun light on island). Then again, change is often theorized as motion over time (since motion is change over time) so the 'end-result' is of course temporal."
