Shannon Rutherford
Shannon Rutherford was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Boone's stepsister, who she frequently argued with. She was very selfish at times, though she eventually formed a romantic relationship with Sayid. Shannon survived on the Island for 48 days before she was unintentionally shot and killed by Ana-Lucia Cortez.

I'll use the Back to the Future analogy again, the Michael J. Fox character hadn't been time traveling for 30 years. He just did it once (in the first movie) and then made it home. But it wasn't continuous for that whole 30+ years.

I don't doubt there is some device on the island that lets you travel from one place to another, but I didn't know it could take you back and forth through time.

goes to my theory that Richard is a baby that landed on the island on the Black Rock and one of the slaves brought him up,

I like these questions.

Wouldnt be completely shocking.
And Richard was still young there.... and the guy whose baby it is is supposedly twice emilys age

I'm thinking about a possible paternal relation between Locke and Richard Alpert too.
But I don't think we know for sure that Emily's mom never met the father of the child, whoever he is. Her scene in Emily's bedroom suggested that "mom thinks the guy's too old" and when she saw Richard at the hospital she made the remark that she doesn't know who this guy is, not the father of the child.
But her few seconds of looking at Richard Alpert made me suspicious..it seemed as if she knew something about Richard at some level.
and oh, Richard's hotness defies time & age

POTPIES:
It's definitely the case that Richard is at least a spiritual father for Locke. I think Locke and Ben are both spiritual sons of Richard and in a sort of sibling rivalry for communion with the island and leadership on the island. Ben is the big brother who just got his butt whupped in basketball for the first time, and is honestly scared because he can see that his time is numbered.
I also like the idea of Richard being Locke's actual, biological dad, but don't we know for certain already that Anthony Cooper was the man in Locke's pirvate detective's research? We--the vieweres--don't see his photo or his name in the file, but we assume that Locke must have, otherwise he wouldn't have been taken in so easily. Unless the private detective himself was part of the con and hired by Cooper all along???????
FLANEUSE:
But her few seconds of looking at Richard Alpert made me suspicious..it seemed as if she knew something about Richard at some level.

POTPIES:
Well, I wonder if she met Richard during her own childhood, and maybe she was freaked out because he looked familiar to her but he hadn't aged at all? Sound familiar? Maybe the entire line is "special" in some way?
