Christian Shephard

We saw alot of old Doc Shephard last night, but I think we saw two different things.

When Claire sees her father, Christian is dressed differently, and his hair seems to be all white. I think this is whatever is living/staying with Jacob in the cabin.

And what Jack is seeing is the Island personified, or the Smoke Monster as many believe it can assume different shapes. Also Claire's Christian is holding Aaron. Has the monster or the island ever interacted with anything, other than Kate's Horse (but I always thought that was more of a magic box thing and not the Smoke Monster..) ?

Christian's hair has always been white, except in some flashbacks. As for wearing something different, it just looks like he took of his jacket to me.

Claire's Christian looks to be dressed casual. That is probably how she remembers him. Jack's Christian mostly dresses in a suit. Jack is so use to seeing him at work that he remembers him that way.

Isn't there another now deceased Lostie that was also one of Christian Shephard's kids. Libby?

The Smoke Monster, appearing as Christian, shows Jack where the caves a source of fresh water can be found.

The Smoke Monster, appearing as a boar, helps Sawyer begin to forgive himself for shooting Frank Duckett, the wrong guy, in Australia.

The Smoke Monster, creating dreams and hallucinations for Charley convince him that Aaron is in danger, but for what reason? There seems to be none. I don't get it.

The island gives Locke his hallucination in the smoke tent after the hatch blows and he needs direction. In the hallucination Boone wheels Locke through the airport, where they spot the rest of the Losties going about their business. I think this is when Locke realizes that Eko has something important to teach him.

What I ment was that the smoke monster, while in human shape, hasn't touched anything, while last night's episode showed him holding the baby Aaron. That's why I don't think he is the monster. (I wasn't very clear either here or on TVSquad either. Sorry)

Why does Christian have white shoes on with his suit too? They look like plimsoles a bit - is this some kind of Paul McCartney crossing the road thing - where he had no shoes on in a photograph and everyone thought it meant he'd died? Can't remember from previous episodes if Christian always wears these or not.

Here's a weird thought, and completely against the Lost canon that they aren't dead. But...Clair was in a house that got blown up, Christian drank himself to death, and in the preview after this episode it showed the guy that said "I've been dead for 12 years". What if Clair died in that explosion and that's why Christian came and got her? I know, that's not it, but why else would she leave her baby? The whole thing with Miles being able to talk to dead people proves that on LOST, just because you're dead doesn't mean you're gone. I'm starting to think that Smokey and the dead people are NOT one in the same.

That is interesting! I like it. Also, I was reading on Lostpedia that in episode 9 a scene was cut where Claire had a vision. (no detail was given) That would explain her saying "At least I'm not seeing things anymore."

The more I think about, the more I think that smokey doesn't appear in human form. We've never actually seen smokey turn from smokey to something else. I think when we all saw Eko's brother, and then saw Eko get killed by smokey, we just assumed that they were one in the same. Especially after his "brother" said "why do you think I'm your brother?" or something like that. I think Jacob is controlling/making the "ghost people", and smokey is something else that he controls. I would have said that smokey was created by the DARMA folks, but that was a creepy old looking door that Ben went through in his house to sic smokey on the freighter guys.
