am i the only one still wondering what happend to christian shephards body?, as we saw in season 1 jack couldt find it in the couffin

I doubt it.

Yes, that was weird as was the fact that the empty coffin landed well inside the caves and nobody commented on it after they all moved off of the beach. Makes me think that the coffin was completely a hallucination on Jack's part. That it is actually still missing on the island somewhere.

Thats one of the reasons I think there are 2 different Christians. One, his body working with/for jacob and seen holding Aaron, and the monster version which is seen by Jack,

sumthnwitty - I remember the producers said Yemi was in fact the monster in human form...maybe in a podcast or something.

I agree I am not sure why it is so commonly proposed that Smokey should have anything to do with the ghosts/visions. I think we have just gotten carried away with that idea. The dead/ghosts/visions are probably not related to Smokey. I think we will get to the bottom of this before it is shown on the show, but I think there is a paranormal, ghostbusters, pseudo-science explanation we haven't latched on to or confirmed. Miles might be the key?

When Claire sees her father, Christian is dressed differently, and his hair seems to be all white. I think this is whatever is living/staying with Jacob in the cabin.

And what Jack is seeing is the Island personified, or the Smoke Monster as many believe it can assume different shapes. Also Claire's Christian is holding Aaron. Has the monster or the island ever interacted with anything, other than Kate's Horse (but I always thought that was more of a magic box thing and not the Smoke Monster..) ?

I'm going to go on record as saying that the horse Kate saw was as a result of her eating the chocolate bar from the hatch. Those in the know will corroborate my story.

I agree that we shouldn't assume that the smoke monster has anything to do with the apparitions...or even that it is necessarily a monster. Throughout history people have created beasts to scare and thus have control over others. I would not doubt that this is the real purpose of the smoke monster. As for its physical abilities, well, I am not sure how to explain that yet.

The appearance of dead or supposedly dead individuals on the island is another way that Lost attempts to blend the real and surreal or fantastic to the point that we are not sure which is which...or maybe both at the same time. One thing we know is that these apparitions usually come in 2 kinds. They are either symbolic of a characters inner demons (Christian to Jack, Yemi to Eko, Hurleys imaginary friend, etc) or they come to advise or guide other characters (Charlie, Boone, etc). I think some of it is ghosts taking advantage of tears in the space/time continuum. Other times, I think it is guilt manifesting itself. I don't think it's Smokey though...

I'm in the camp that says Smokey is a different entity from the apparitions, but I do believe they are controlled by the same source: Jacob/The Island.

As for Claire wondering off into the jungle with Christian: I think this is the island making an insurance policy for those that want to get off the island. It's somewhat presumptuous, but I think Jack will eventually find out he is Aaron's uncle in the next couple of episodes. He therefore will think it's his obligation to get Aaron off the island (how Kate comes to take of it is beyond my reach now). After a while, the island will summon him back to the island in order to give the baby back to Claire (who I think is not dead). Perhaps, this episode was Christian's first attempt to get in contact with Jack to tell him this.

What is really presumptuous right now is that Jack's receptionist, Jane, could be one of two things: a spy for Widmore's group; or even cooler: a time guardian like Mrs. Hawking! That would be pretty sweet.
