Mr. Eko
Eko, also known as Mr. Eko or Father Tunde, was one of the tail section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. He was a notorious war lord and drug smuggler in Nigeria before his brother Yemi's death. To get out of his country he hastily became a priest, but after Yemi's death, he seemed to take his role more seriously. Eko survived on the Island for 72 days before he was killed by the Monster.

4. Those on the list are to join and be accepted by the others.
5. Punishment for the death of an other by an other means banishment and marking.
6. Those on the list can be put into harmful situations that may result in their death.

So by Ben saying Widmore only changed the rule, Ben manipulated the situation and made it fair for Ben to reciprocate and go after Widmore's daughter.

Ha ha! I'm quoting myself! I am a goofball! But I STILL think the most important thing is that Ben used the word "changed" instead of "broke." "Change" allows the game to continue, "broke" would mean the game should end.

Just to reassure you, Ben tells Widmore he will kill Penny while he is in 2005 which means Penny is still alive in 2005 so we can assume she will survive at least up to that point. Time has a way of course correcting itself so Penny will survive up until the end of the series, well that is my opinion.

Not all of the main Losties are on the list. Kate isn't. And at least one other, but I can't remember if it's Michael or Sayid. Other Losties we don't know about one way or the oher. We can't just assume they're on the list because they are main characters.

There are at least 2 lists: The list from Bea Klugh given to Michael in order to get his son back - James, Hurley, Jack, and Kate. Then there is a mysterious list Claire heard mentioned while under sedation in the Medical Hatch (with Ethan) where Tom says,"Jack wasn't even on his (or Jacob's) list."

Here is something I just read from an interview by Kristin at E! Online News with Michael Emerson (they take questions from the audience):
Quote:
Johnny: Is Charles Widmore Ben's constant?
Is that why he can't kill him?Let's ask Michael Emerson, shall we? Said Benry himself: "Wow. That's a new notion to me. Clearly, because of what they know about each other, somehow Widmore is privy to Ben's comings and going. There's something symbiotic there. I don't know if it's physical or temporal or just...I don't know. But that's getting down to the nub of what's going on in the show. I don't know! That's a wonderful notion though." I also asked Michael how long Benjamin and Charles have been acquainted, and he told me, "I mean...sky's the limit on that question. Are they conventionally human?! You might ask. [Or] is there a quality of things being on a loop here? That's the thing that comes up to me every so often." Head. Hurts.

That was exactly the moment I was wracking my brain to remember. When Tom says that Jack wasn't on the list. Thank you! I had no idea where to find it again.
