Ben's first real display of emotion

I have to say, I think this is the first time I saw Ben display genuine emotions. Ben always creeped me out because he almost seemed sub-human. I never saw anything really affect him because he always had some sort of way out, plan, or manipulation to prevent him from every having to deal with this. He never really got attached to anyone for very long. His mother died when he was younger and we can assume that his childhood friend "Annie" died as well.

Alex was Ben's last tie to humanity. I am very interested to see on how his behavior changes now? Will he just stay stuck on revenge a la Sawyer, or will he try to eventually progress as a human being and show compassion for others?

Thoughts?

I wonder if now that the "rules have changed" if he will be more free among the LOSTies with what information he divulges. There always seemed to be a plan or ultimate goal in Ben's mind but now that Alex is gone, he will most likely change direction. We see that her death is likely what leads Ben to leave the island for revenge so who knows?

Ben did seem to show us a lot:

As sad as it was to lose Alex, I feel no sympathy for Ben. He just let her die. He got what he deserved, even if Alex didn't. From what he told Sayid, his anger seems take over completely.

I don't think he just let her die. I really think there was an agreement between Ben and Widmore never to go after eachother's families, so Ben really thought Keamy was bluffing when he said he would kill Alex if ben didn't come outside. Ben was bluffing right back. Hence Ben in total shock saying "He changed the rules." If he knew Keamy was serious, I don't think he would have been so cavalier. Ben was devastated when Alex was shot.

I agree that Ben is going to me more forthcoming to the Losties with info about the island. He's gonna want to team up with them to survive Widmore's freighties, and then exact his revenge. For one thing, he knows that Sawyer is very familliar with desires for revenge. I bet it's just a matter of time before he tries to recruit Sawyer as another of his assassins. I'm also guessing that Sawyer is killed before he gets a chance to go back to civilization and start opening up that can o' wupa$$ for Ben, Sayid-style. That will not be a happy episode for me. Nosireeebob.

^^And also this explains why Ben recruited Sayid. Sayid has truly felt the loss of a loved one, much like Sawyer. I never used to see the parallels b/w Ben and the losties, but now we can really start to feel for Ben as a human being.

That was the only episode I cried for. I feel like crying now. People beat the guy down in the dust ASAP.
