You are correct. Ben knew he would be killed if he stayed long enough. He did kill those two men in the desert without hesitation. It was like he had military training or similar training

one thing that bothers me is that sayid said that he spent 8 years of his life searching for his love. but its 2005 so its not 8 years since he got off the island. and i dont believe that he also counts the time on the island becouse he had an affair with boones sister .

I thought we'd get a little more information about what Sayid woman has been doing since they last were see together when she helped him escape. The only thing we got to see what Locke having some contact with her, maybe that was just written as to show how each person on the island has some kind of connection between them prior to coming together on the island.

Sayid was searching for Nadia for years before he ever got on flight 815. Remember the CIA agents in Australia captured Sayid. I think he started searching for her almost as soon as the Gulf War ended. The woman agent said they had been following his movements for years and knew he was searching for someone. They figure out it was Nadia and told him they would give him her wherabouts if he conned his friend into becoming a suicide bomber.

The affair with Boone's sister happened because once he crashed on the island and thought he would never get off, he thought he would never find Nadia again. He tells someone that Nadia was already dead, but we know that wasn't true at the time.

It's another Long Con. He got Sayid to think it was his own idea to work for Ben, but really it was Ben's idea all along. Ben is a way better conman than Sawyer probably ever will be. Better even than Locke's dad.

Well maybe Ben knew so much about Sayid like he does with pretty much everybody he meets up with. That he knew it would be so easy to get Sayid to do some of his dirty work.
I can't remember if the hotel that the woman had menton is the same one as where Ben confronts Widmore, if it is then that pretty much close to the same timeline as when we find out Sayid is working for Ben. If it's not the same hotel then it must be another person on Ben's list of getting to Widmore.
Another thing did Ben appear surprise to see Sayid was there at the same time as he is and I wonder if Ben knows the whereabouts of the other Oceanic 6. It seems like from when Sayid questions Ben about being off the island maybe the wheels in Sayid head were turning and saying Ben is tracking down the 06's I'm just kind of throwing this out there that maybe the real reason Sayid working with Ben is kind of like of like keep your friends close but keep your ememy closer.

I'm not sure if it applys to this thread but I'll throw it out there anyway..

In the Econimst when Ben is sewing up Sayid's wound he kinda questions why he is killing some people if I remember right. Then Ben says you want to protect your friends don't you.. Is Sayid killing people of Whitmore's before they can kill anyone of the Oceanic 6? When he is on the golf course before shooting the other man when he mentions he is one of the Oceanic 6, the look on that guys face was shock and fear (or so I thought)

That might be what is happening. Widmore is trying to get back the island, it was his originally, after all. There are 6 people who Widmore knows were on that island - therefore they could have possible knowledge of how to return or find the island. Hmmm... just had a thought.... why wouldn't Ben just kill the O6 to prevent Widmore from getting them? If the island is worth this epic struggle between Widmore and Linus, what is the loss of 6 people compared to the protection of the island?

My best guess is in the "HOW" the O6 get off the island.. The media frenzy might make it quite hard for them to just start killing the peeps off without bring unwanted attention.. I am guessing there is going to be some HUGE way they get off the island.. The O6 are followed by the media quite a bit from the FF..
