Mr. Eko

Eko, also known as Mr. Eko or Father Tunde, was one of the tail section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. He was a notorious war lord and drug smuggler in Nigeria before his brother Yemi's death. To get out of his country he hastily became a priest, but after Yemi's death, he seemed to take his role more seriously. Eko survived on the Island for 72 days before he was killed by the Monster.

Default Ben's stick thing -- Baton de Linus

That thing ben had was it a weapon or was that something to help him teleport or time travel back. The cave helps him get there but he needs that to return to the island?? It seemed a little high tech to me,but i only had a quick glance. Also that had to be one of the best episodes thus far smokey really freaked me out ,that was insane!!!!!!!!!!!

The object Ben was holding was an extendable baton. Presumably the same one he beat Sawyer down with while he was being held in the polar bear cage.

I thought it was just a bigger, fancy switchblade.

It's true he needs something to trigger return travel. Perhaps when he pulled out the baton thing he was considering beaming outta there. Then decided to whoop up on those boys instead.

It's a variation of a telescopic steel police baton. It looks fancy, but the technology is quite simple behind it.

I don't think it has anything to do with the teleportation/time travel. Also, I think we should be careful when we're talking about the cave being a portal for time travel. That is merely presumptuous speculation at this point! We are not certain yet that Ben, in fact, traveled somewhere or sometime else when he initially went into his hidden room. It's very likely he simply went in there to get the Smoke Monster. The scenes were simply juxtaposed against one another to show the correlation of why he went off the island in the first place: to confront Widmore.

But so then why are his face and clothes suddenly filthy when he comes back from the BenCave?

He most likely went to attract the monster and had to crawl through the Cerbesus vents. I'm not sure, but some people are stating he had a change of clothes on, but that can be explained by the fact that his wardrobe is in this hidden room, too.
