Michael Unstuck In Time?

Michael seeing Libby in the hospital has me puzzled. At first I thought it was just a vision (maybe like Hurley had with Charlie), but then I wondered if it was more. We see Michael in two different hospital rooms... first we see him in an older hospital room with older equipment, the monitor Michael is hooked up to. Then Libby is in the room, carrying blankets, and tells him he was in a car wreck. Michael starts yelling as he recognizes who she is. Immediately, Michael is in another hospital room, a more modern room with completely different monitors and a completely different nurse. This second nurse also tells Michael that he was in a car crash (don't forget that Michael has been in two major car crashes). This same nurse also asks Michael if he would like her to call Walt. My questions are... Was the first scene with Libby as the nurse only a vision, or was Libby actually there? Did Michael experience a "Desmond moment" and become unstuck in time and go back to his first car wreck? Was the mention of Walt's name by the second nurse (I am assuming, of course, that "WWWWAAAAALLLLLTTTTT" would be Michael's constant) enough to bring Michael back?

Honestly I don't think Michael is going to need a constant since when the hatch imploded he was at Pala Ferry getting ready to leave so he would not have been exposed to the EM that would be needed to have a result as Desmond did.. If I understand it correctly, you have to be exposed to high amounts of EM and/or Radation..

That is kinda where I was going in another post and that is why the Oceanic 6 were allowed to leave.. they didn't need a constant if anything went wrong.

The constant thing doesn't really matter to me one way or the other. I couldn't care less who has a constant and who doesn't. I just kind of threw that in there because I wanted to type Walt's name like Michael yells it. I am really more interested in if that whole hospital scene was an "unstuck" moment or just a vision. I think the hospital moment was a real unstuck moment, and the Libby-on-the-freighter was a vision.

I was thinking that Libby in the hospital was just Michael waking up, realizing he didn't accomplish the suicide, and becoming guilt ridden again..

On the freighter, well I think that might have been another story.. Like Walt showing up to Locke.. That was a warning, since she told him not to do it and when he did nothing blew up..

Gonna watch the Libby parts again when I get home, see if anything else stands out at me..

I think Libby in the hospital was just Michael having a nightmare. I like your thinking though Queen. There were several differences in the Libby hospital room and the room he actually was in. Maybe he was dreaming about his first hospital stay when he walked in front of a car, but I still think it was a dream. I don't really like the idea that maybe Libby was at one time a nurse back during his first hospital stay, because he should have remembered her when he first saw her on the island.

yeah I think it was just a guilt induced nightmare with Libby and the main reason for the differences in the rooms was to let the viewer know that it was a nightmare and different from his vision of Libby in the freighter engine room.

I watched the Libby parts too and I am sure the on the frieghter was different from in the hospital..

Couple reasons:
On the freighter, we hear the song that was playing when Michael drove his car into whatever that was.. Then I had my stereo turned up loud and hear what I thought were faint whispers almost.. Then she appears..

In the hospital: We see Libby carring in Blankets just like when he shot her, so I think it was more a bad nightmare.

In the hospital there were no whispers with Libby so I thought it must be something else. I thought unstuck moment because, like Minkowski, Michael and Walt had both been close to the island, and both had passed through Whatever? it is you must pass through (electromagnetically?) to escape the island, whether on a course of 325 for Michael, or 305 for Minkowski.

I think it was a nightmare. I assume we are seeing Michael wake up for the first time in the hospital. If he hadn't seen the hospital before (because he was unconscious) then his dream would be of the hospital he had been in previously (when he was hit by a car). Or, because it's a dream - his subconscious could put him in any hospital it feels like putting him in. Just my opinion.

I like how you've separated the two different Libby encounters. The different hospital rooms is something to keep in mind. Of course it could be explained by a dream, but I'm inclined to think that there is something more to it.

So you believe the whipsers are Ben's form of broadcast communication? I always thought of them having to do something with the island or smokey...
