Christmas in New York??

Ok check out these screen caps from Meet Kevin Johnson

Michael's is in New York right? Libby's badge says Mahattan on it. (I know you can't really see it in the above screen cap and she is just a dream or whatever) And Tom says to Michael in the alleyway:

TOM: Manhattan, huh? We let you leave one island, you just go to another one.

So he is definitely in New York right?

Also as you can see from one of the above screen caps there is a Christmas tree up in the hallway at the hospital.( although it is strangely missing from his Libby hallucination) So it is sometime in or around December right?

Well here's the thing. What's missing from the screencaps where he is outside?

There is no snow on the ground. Whats up with that?

I noticed that right away, too! I thought New York was always snowy in winter? Sayid had snow in Germany.

Since they always film in Hawaii, it's probably pretty hard to get fake snow to stay frozen on the street. Especially in the city, snow can melt. Also, the "Christmas season" starts as early as the beginning of November in a lot of places. Just because it's in Manhattan doesn't mean there has to be snow. It gets really cold in NY in the winter so the question to ask is whether or not you could see their breath. Snow comes and goes, but the breath should show the temperature.

I don't buy the production location being Hawaii so they couldn't get it to look there was snow. Like queen said: Sayid's flashforward in Germany had snow on the ground.

but like you said if it is December in Manhattan it should at least be cold. So along with not seeing their breath. The plants shown were all nice and green. And the characters weren't dressed like it was very cold.
I googled: average temperature for new york winter
and got
December: 36.2 degrees. January: 31.8 degrees

November can have higher temperatures but Michael left the island on

Anyways.........
I know the LOsT production crew is capable of mistakes just like any other show, but this seems like a pretty big one if it is just a continuity error IMO.
Instead I think it is some kinda clue to something.... IDK what though.

thanks for the screencaps, folie. the christmas tree is a good clue, but you're right, it should appear colder outside, even if there isn't snow. they could have gotten away with it if they let michael wear a heavier coat.

Definitely a problem. Michael is dressed in a t-shirt and a jacket not zipped. No condensation from breath. Green plants outside Grandma's. I'd like to agree that they couldn't make this kind of production error. There seems something terribly weird about the whole Michael/Kevin story/timeline.

Jersey here, about 10 mins from Manhattan, and I've seen one white Christmas in my 3 decades of life, in fact, I've seen more christmas' where I wear a long sleeve shirt with no jacket than a cold Dec 25th. Decorations go up right after Thanksgiving usually, so we really can't pin down an exact date of when Michael is.

There might not be snow, but I also wondered, temperature-wise, about the poinsettias that were on Mike's mom's porch. If they are real then that is wrong, because poinsettias are native to Mexico. They are a warm weather plant, they couldn't take the cold at all. I'm with Folie - they made snow, or slush, for Germany winter...

I'm sure you know what your talking about, because you live there. But just to be clear are you saying that you have only seen snow 1 time in the last 30years during winter? or that it has only snowed on Christmas day once in the last 30 years?

I lived in Scranton, PA from 1994 to 2000 and it snowed every winter I was there.

The decorations going up right after Thanksgiving fits in with the known time line. Thanksgiving is the 4th thur in November, and we know that Michael left the island on Day 67 - Saturday, November 27, 2004. So whatever the date is when we see Michael in Manhattan it has to be after Nov 27, 2004. At least by the islands timeline.

Here's the thing:

I just think that it is noticably odd that Michael's flashback takes place in Manhattan sometime around December and the weather doesn't seem to reflect this. I am not saying that it is not possible to have warm days in Manhattan during December, but I think this wouldn't be considered normal.

Productions crews with TV and movies deal with creating the right "look" for a scene. And to me if someone were to say "Ok we have a scene in Mahanttan that takes place in December." the first thing that comes to my mind is cold and snow.

I live in Manhattan. The weather is as pedictable as what is going to happen next on Lost. I remember one week the temperature was in the mid 60's and next week it was in the upper 20's. NYC is alot warmer now than it was 10 years ago.
