Why disable the gas? - Page 2

I am thinking they needed to shut the gas off before the freighter folks came on island to kill everyone so that Ben could not gas the island and protect his folks..

Maybe the Temple is a type of "fallout Shelter" like a bomb shelter, that way when Ben if he needed to use the gas they would still be protected?

Nearly every word out of Ben's mouth is a lie or else has a double meaning. You can never trust what he says.....

I think that the biggest reason that Naomi came to the island first was so she could find out what the situation was and gather intelligence before sending in Miles, Charolette, and Daniel.. When Naomi called the freighter and gave them the code that one of the Lostie's killed/injured her they knew there was going to be a fight/ war whatever.. Their best way of gather more intel and making it "safe" for the "wipe team" to come in they had to shut off the gas, I don't know how they knew about it but I would think that since they did to protect themselves they would need to make the gas station in their control so Ben could not turn around and use it against them.

If I remember right Harper tells Juliette to stop Dainel and Charolette, and she doesn't. So she didn't believe Ben either right?

Ben has shown over and over again that he can not be trusted, even you guys get suckered into his obviously flawed logic. He is manipulative and very convincing, but if ben has proved anything to anyone its that he is very deceptive all the time. I think sayied should be going to work on ben and miles for answers the ol' fassioned way, the way Kelvin taught him. Or pull a Christopher Walken in "True Romance"

Yes, the freighter people want the island in a non-gassed state. They wanted to disable the gas so that Ben couldn't use it against the other freighter people when they showed up with machine guns. The freighter people didn't want to use the gas to accomplish their mission for some reason - they'd rather shoot people up. Perhaps they are looking for something and the gas masks are very inconvenient to wear all the time until the gas dissipates. Besides, perhaps they have a list (like Ben) of who they want to keep alive. The gassing is indiscriminate and would kill everyone while with bullets they can choose who they want to kill.

The gas is a weapon that could be used against them. They wanted to neutralize it. They know that Ben is willing to defend the Island at all costs. Even if that means sacrificing everyone on it.
