random thoughts & questions

Some random thoughts and questions about this episode:

* Why didn't we see Daniel Faraday and Charlotte when the ship was harbored and Michael met quite a bunch of the crew there? They weren't around when the ship took off either.

* If people with heavy guns were part of the crew already, with the implication that they were prepared to shoot everyone on the island once they'd get to Benjamin Linus, why was Naomi concerned about F4's lack of military training (conversation with Abbadon)? It looked as if there was some well planned division of labor and plenty of armed men to cover for them in case of danger..It doesn't seem plausible to me that Naomi wasn't informed about the armed men when talking to Abbadon.

* Why not putting 1-2 of those armed guys on the helicopter, instead of sending the F4 to the island in the first place? Wouldn't it be better to send the military guys first, and then the brainy 4 (Naomi, Miles, Faraday, Charlotte)?

* Did Miles know all along that Kevin was not only lying about his identity but also that he was somehow connected to Ben? If so, was 3.2 million $ his only motive to keep it all to himself really? Maybe Miles is under cover too, or not that much of a Whidmore fan at least..

* Is Naomi's tattoo on her right arm of any meaning? Looked like some pictographic characters? Chinese or Korean if it is..and possible meaning? or was it some set of numbers?

* Not a question, but I just found Ben's phone conversation with Michael very impressive. Ben said he wouldn't align with murder unless for a good reason or greater cause. I think that sets the record straight regarding Ben's moral fabric. He's not some evil egotistical guy manipulating people around for his own pleasure or agenda.

* I don't think that the Oceanic815 chat Lapidus brought up when standing on deck with Michael was random. I find Lapidus to be the most straight-forward of all but..could it be that he knew or sensed something about Michael?

* In the final scene of the episode where Karl and Rousseau got killed, it becomes visible that Karl's wearing some sort of an ear plug on his left ear (40:25). Like the plugs one'd wear for noise or something...More interestingly though, something like an ear-phone wire on Alex's right side becomes visible in between her hair when Rousseau tries to sooth her after Karl's gone (40:43-47). Now what's that??

What do you think?

I think they wanted the Brains to go in first to protect the dummys who can shoot well (AKA disabling the gas)

Well michael was not 100% sure he was working with ben until after he got the phone call from him so if he didnt know there would be know way for miles to know. But I think he did know that he was an oceanic 6 member, and i think miles told the captain and one of the reasons the captain is not suprised that michael is a trader. But they are keeping him around because well, he was the only one who had been to this island before.

Regardless of when & how Michael sets up his mind, I think Miles would know that there's some connection between Kevin and this guy the whole freighter is after.

1. i think the F4 were sent to infiltrate first. if they went with guns blazing, ben would have gassed the island (or so they assumed)

2. I don't think Miles really knew who michael was, i think he just "sensed" it with his powers of perception. like he could "read" that michael was hiding something, but doesn't know specifically what he is hiding

3. I think Ben is LYING BIG TIME

4. i don't think Frank's conversation with Mike was random either. why would you volunteer all that information?

5. I saw the silver thing near alex's ear. i was thinking it was just earphones, maybe she was listening to music on the walk through the jungle?

I have a question of my own. don't you think it was weird that Tom had all those incriminating documents regarding Widmore's activities? I think Ben is lying (and Tom lying as well) about Widmore to get people to do things...

I agree with that. But they (F4) could have been accompanied by some of those tough guys just as well, right? I mean, if you have people with guns & military training on boat, why not organize a mixed group for the first helicopter landing?

I don't know..it looked a little too suspicious to me..but again, some easy listening music could help when you're running for your life.. Aah, teenagers

I thought he had it all with him to convince Michael- or maybe he was off the island to collect the documents and then went to Manhattan to get to Michael. For some reason I like Tom

Miles knew specifically that Kevin Johnson was not his real name

Here are some screen caps of the whatever Karl and Alex have in their ears.

Whatever is in Karl's ear only appears after he is shot and lying on the ground.

Alex's looks like some kinda earring, but if it is not attached to the bottom of her ear.

Good catch folie a deux- thanks for the pics...That last photo makes me think it's not some random earphone or an ear-ring, but a quality mic-plug..Hmm

i disagree. it's like queenbee said in another thread: miles is like deanna troy from star trek next generation. or if you saw the movie Species, the role that Forest Whittaker played...someone who can sense feelings or auras or whatever you call it. miles is intuitive...thats why he can get messages from the dead. he SENSED mike was lying.
