Boone Carlyle
Boone Carlyle was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Shannon's stepbrother. He attempted to assume a semi-leadership role with the survivors but failed due to being rash and young, though he became Locke's apprentice when the two formed a close bond. Boone survived on the Island for 41 days before he died of injuries sustained in a fall whilst he tried to contact 'rescuers' from the drug smugglers' plane. According to Locke, Boone was a sacrifice the Island demanded.

Hey dbeach, I'm all for such immanent vitalism But the earlier debate on this thread is not so much about personification of the island on those terms- rather about assigning to it the godly position of some ultimate judge. Sure that the fate of LOSTies and even the fate of some people off the island but somewhat related to it, very much depend on the island (ex: FFs). From its environmental conditions to its geographical location, from its special powers to other mysteries, the island has a lot of qualities that determine the choices & lives of the character. I just don't think that it all comes down to some judgment matter though. Such a reading soon falls short of many complexities going on in the show and then all we're left with would be some blind fatalism. Personally, I just like my 40 min of weekly TV entertainment to be more thought provoking than that
Than again, a matter of personal opinions..

The plane wasn't sabatoge they clearly point out that at the time that Desmond didn't enter the numbers in time cause the plane to be pulled out of it's course and broken up. Not sure which episode it was but they had found some printout of everytime the numbers were enter, and Desmond compare the time when he wasn't there to the time of the Losties coming to the island.
One says EKKO, another says ELKO, yet another says EKO and I thought when he first appear on the show some said he's ECHO. It does kind of crack me up when I seen some spell a name one way and another another way. I'm not a perfect speller myself. I'm a deaf person and I depend on the closed caption to follow whats being said on television shows. I get upset if one of the programs I enjoy watching and there's no cc coming up on the screen or it comes on/off later in the program. I've sent emails to the station pointing out to them that the program I was watching about the problem with the cc signal, I've been told okay we'll look into that. I once knew of a site where I use to go to and they would post the cc from each episode of Lost, my computer crash and I could never find that site again. So if anybody out there knows of this site please send me a message I'd would like very much to have it back in my favorites.

I agree I think it was very well established that Desmond inadvertently caused the crash of flight 815 by not pressing the button in time.

Lostpedia.com has transcripts for all the shows. They are fan created though and so could contain errors, but I have found them to be very accurate.
From the main page just type transcripts in the search box.

Everyone has both right and wrong, dark and light, good and evil, in their lives. So we, as the audience, have to consider the show in reference to our own beliefs. This whole Lost site is nothing more than everyone's opinions. Don't judge each other too harshly - it could come back on you. You two need to play nicely...

Alright QueenBeeSteph your right about my earlier post where I talked about spelling errors, It hit a little below the belt. I'm sorry, but I stand by my remark about captain sisko putting his own judgement behind the island's personification. It's my opinion, that is why I ended my post with "at least that's the way I see it" I'm not judging anyone.

Ok so last night I rewatched "?" and "Three Minutes" I can't believe how long its been since I watched those episodes..
One of the first things I thought about was this thread. Micheal IMHO is only haunted by Libby because she suffered.. Remember he shot her then she lived for hours.. Jack ended up giving her the Herione to make her comfortable. He watched her suffer, Hurley suffer and that is what he is keeping with him..
Quote:
HURLEY [trying not to cry]: Hey, it's Hurley. Hugo. I'm sorry I forgot the blankets. I'm sorry I forgot the blankets. [she opens her eyes] Libby?
[Libby struggles to say something. Jack enters.]
LIBBY: Michael.
|
Libby's last words before she dies is "MICHAEL"
